The Straight Skinny on Pres. Election 2008 Canidates

It is politicking season in my battleground-state of Iowa. I work at an FBO on the second or third largest airfield in Iowa. For clarification, FBO stands for fixed base operation, a place where private aircraft both large and small stop to get gas, pick up passenger or just stay for the night. The visits are going to get more and more frequent, but it does give me a decent feel for the major players that are vying for our vote. I'll try and give you folks my take on these guys in the coming months.

Thursday night I had to stay late because Kerry and Harkin came in. These jokers woke up the limo guy at 11 pm and wanted a BLACK limo for ten. The limo guy said all that was available was a white 14-passenger model and was told that that would do. At 1:30 am the plane lands(at this point I still don't know who is on the plane and I don't care seeing as I should have been home two hours prior) and out steps Harkin and Kerry. There went my night.

The first thing he says is, "This limo is not BLACK! It is white." The limo guy told him that was all that was available and they refused to ride in it. Limo guy tells them they will still be charged for the call out. Still they refuse to ride in it.

So some pencil neck that had come to meet them ends up chauffeuring them in his Honda civic. It was a true clown car. The liberal college student driving while Kerry, Harkin and their two "yes" men all piled in.

The best I could glean from this is that Democrats prefer Black. But if given a choice between white and Asian, Asia wins. That and they don't seem to mind getting close.:D

Saturday we had a plane come down and wait a few hours before picking up Gov. Mit Romney of Mass. Turns out that he is actually a fairly decent Republican that seems to make a lot of Dems happy. He actually seemed like a decent guy. See, most times the politicos will pretend you don't exist, and most cases I am cool with that. But here I am after sweating all day in the sun, smelling like some kind of bum, the guy shakes my hand and thanks me for taking care of the aircraft crew!

Those are just the first of probably a dozen Presidential hopefuls I will see this year. In the mean time, I’m going to try and find out more about this Romney fellow as he left a good impression.

To Be Continued.

I never was too big a fan of kerry anyway, but good lord...Almost makes you wonder what things have been coming to.

And on an unrelated side note, am I the only one who thinks that Bush & Kerry are/were in cahoots? Or that the powers that be somehow gave kerry the '04 nomination thinking that he couldn't possibly win, or that if he did, he'd be pulled by the same strings as bush. (End of unfounded consipracy rant.)

At what point in my post did I make it seem that I did not like my job? Yes it can be annoying when I have plans to go out but I have to stay late, but the O/T is good and I get to see alot of cool stuff.

Good starting post, rhgunguy... Don't know where Ultima got that impression, but who knows!

When you start looking at Romney, you may get a tad disappointed. I won't say why and bias what you find.

Looking forward to your next installment.

No doubt at tax payer's expense.

Highway to hell.

Now all that was needed was our present Governor of Iowa to have been directing traffic to make that scene complete....;) sending them off in a approaiate direction.

What should have sent was a garbage truck.

12-34hom.

Hopefully in 08, we hire someone who's competent rather than someone we think we could hang around and have a beer with...

Personally, I don't care if they're rude, obnoxious, elitist, banging their interns, or whatever... it's not a high school popularity contest, or voting for the prom queen...

We need someone who can do the job.

...and I suspect they're going to have quite a mess to deal with when they move in.

^ What he said, but that ain't gonna happen because it really is a popularity contest and reality doesn't have much to do with politics.
