don't think i've seen this discussed before, may be fun Thread. I go shooing about once a week and in general most rounds sound about the same. Yes the 357 is usually the loudest Some go super sonic, some don't and the there Is the 22.
Last week I took my Mauser broomhandle for a visit, probably been ten years. Most of the guns make similar bangs, some louder than others, but then there is the broomhandle. It produces a deep sound more like a small cannon. The powder is 5.9 of Win 231. Don't see why the sound is different. .Thought I'd sse if of someone knows

The physics of “sound” / “muzzle blast” is pretty well discerned.
The speed of gas expansion then dissipation, temperature, air pressure, barrel material and length, combustion completeness, projectile and related factors give each shot from a different gun a unique signature. Then add a suppressor and the math gets more exciting :)

The Mosin M38, M44 & the 91/59 carbines have there own distinct muzzle blast sound, along with a big muzzle flash signature, using 7.62x54R - Russ/Com ammo.

Why does the last round fired in the magazine in my Glock 17 sound different than the others?

Well it actually probably doesn't. But it could be that you're so glad to be done shooting that Legoland escapee that, in relief, the last round sounds joyful to you.

Or it could be that the gun, in your hands, is glad to be done with the abuse and itself emits a sigh of relief. :p

Pretty funny..probably, after about 1500 problem free rounds and seeing the smile on my face..the Glock is sad that I am out of ammo for that day and can no longer enjoy the thrill of shooting this Glock accurately and trouble free..again...:)
