The Sig p220 was calling to me...

...and I answered it this afternoon.

The p220 I mentioned in the "Best Looking Pistols" thread? Well, I bought it. It isn't stainless, it's a factory nickel model. It's absolutely beautiful. It's a brand new, unfired, (except for the factory test shots), 10 year old pistol. Everything this pistol came with, including the factory test target and original plastic wraps was included.

I saw it the other day at when I stopped by the gun shop. I didn't really look at it all that closely because of the price. But today, I was driving by on the way home after picking up my new CZ75B and I thought I'd stop in and see what was new. Little did I know that that German pistol was calling me!

I answered by asking to take a closer look at it. "I can't afford this", I said to myself, "I just bought a pistol." The owner saw the look in my eye. He told me more about it. I was weakening. But, I said, "No, I just bought a pistol today". I handed it back, said "Thanks!", and left.

I only got 1/3 of the way home, thinking the whole way about about how to swing buying it. The Sig was calling me back! I turned around, walked back in and said, "I'll take it!". 30 minute later, it was mine. I know I probably paid too much, but it was only $75.00 more than a new, black, 'plain' one. I was weak, I know. But it was just too nice to pass on!

Please, tell me I did the right thing!!!

Now, the next question. SHOULD I SHOOT IT???

Thanks for listening.

You won't regret it. I didn't.
Its a great pistol. One of the all time best straight out of the box shooting .45's. Excellent choice.

Life is too short

Life is too short to not get the things you want. Are you happy with your P220? Sounds to me like you are. :) Enjoy it. :p

Don't just shoot it, shoot it until it has a highly polished smooth bore. Then send it back to SIGArms for a rebuild and do it all over again!:D

Congrats and welcome to the Sig family. You just purchased one of the best and most dead accurate guns, .45 I should say, ever created. I personally don't care for the stainless one coming out for the P220. It is nice looking of course, and more resilliant to corrosion being all ss, but I find the blued and nickel P220 perfect. The aluminum alloy frame is a great balance for it. Not too heavy like most steel frame guns, yet not light or top heavy like most polymer framed guns. Well balanced and feels good is the word, hehe. Regarding shooting it? YES! Shoot it as much as you can. You will find even how much more smoother and better and more accurate the gun becomes the more you break it in.

Even 10 years old, it's not enough of a rarity to be locked away unfired. You got yourself a solid, practical working pistol there, so load it up and take it to the range! A SIG is a terrible thing to waste!

Like Gary, I saw the light in 88; and have absolutely no regret's. The P220 is the
finest, out-of-the-box pistol money can
buy. All of the one's I have seen are capeable
of extremely fine accuracy. Congrat's on your
purchase; I know you will enjoy it.

Your P220 is a Duty gun... Feed it Duty ammo.
Avoid the cheap crap. You don't pour low grade fuel into an Acura NSX - you feed it the High Octain juice. Same with the Sig.
Givr full power ammo.
