The Secret Service

This is just a thought that jumped into my head, but, if we as United States citizens don't have any business with guns, as the pro gun control advocates state, then wouldn't that "NORMALLY" include the Secret Service? They definitly carry. Why does he need that kind of protection? If we are supposed to defend ourselves with our fists because some people don't like the idea that we are armed, as we have the constitutional right to do, then the prez SHOULD be able to be protected using their fists instead of guns. Maybe I am totally off base but, it just made me think you know.
What are your opinions?

The Leader of a superpower such as the United States must be protectedat all times due to his role as Commander in Chief. The national military control structure MUST have a cilivian at it's head. I don't believe that Mr. Clintons total lack of principles has anything to do with my ability to keep and bear arms. You make an excellent point in terms of the fact he and his family are well protected and they should be! The Secret Service is a Law Enforcement Agency and has many other duties besides protecting the President, it would be unfair to expect them to be unarmed due to his (Mr. Clinton's) arrogance. I just wish that Mr. Clinton had some principles!

Clinton is a poor example as he IS the Commander-in-Chief. Pick any of a number of other people who are protected by means not available to you and me.
It is all moot though. OUR right to Keep and Bear arms is guaranteed by the Constitution.

You know, it sounded good when I first put this thread on here. Then, after it was done, I felt stupid for putting it on here. You'll are right though. I guess it all just bugs me, as I know it bugs all of us.

Christina,
It's not really a stupid idea at all. Actually, in a really screwed up, twisted form of thinking, pretty typical of my thought process, ;), I kinda want Hillary to get elected. I wonder how the other Senators will feel about her "personal armed escort"? My bet is that they'll all want one for their very own! Then the House, then the Governors, then the Mayors. At some point, the unwashed masses are going to point and say, "That ain't right". I think you just looked at the picture and said something like "That ain't right"

Along these same lines, I hope Bush challenges Gore during the debates over the inevitable question regarding Bush's support for concealed carry, especially the "carrying in church's" mantra Of Gore's tribe.

I hope he asks Gore to put his money where his mouth is and lead the way by asking his SS agents to leave their weapons outside when they accompany Al and his family to Church. This a prime example of the elitist nature of gun control in general and carry prohibitions specifically.
