the s&w 15-22(.22lr) is about the best semi auto .22lr rifle?

im only interested in semi auto .22lr rifles that shoot cheap bulk ammo such as the federal 550 round box. im not interested in any rifle that needs expensive cci .22lr ammo to function well.

my sig 522(.22lr) had 3 or 4 easily cleared malfunctions on the first range trip. since then i put 8,000 rounds of cheap bulk ammo with no malfunctions. its going on 2,000 rounds since its last cleaning, no malfunctions. but the blackdog mags are cracking and one completely broke.

my brother in law has the s&w 15-22 which looks much better and comes with sights unlike my sig 522. trigger isn't as good. he says the 15-22 functions well with federal bulk. i shot 550 rounds through it with no malfunctions. 15-22 mags are great. im thinking of buying this.

for the $450 price range, the 15-22 is about the best?

p.s.
i have owned all the other cheap semi auto .22lr rifles such as ruger 10/22, marlin, ect. i have tossed a couple in the bayou and traded some off. they are jam masters and problematic. not interested.

Yup...I feed mine Federal Auto Match (100%) from Wal Mart for non stop general plinking fun. I also use CCI 22lr AR (99%) and CCI Standard Velocity (100%).

Winchester bulk is about 95% and Remington bulk is around 90%. Most of the failures are "failure to fire". I try not to use the Winchester and don't use the Remington at all anymore. They seem dirtier too.
