The real range

Yep,Buffalo grass,soapweeds,prickley pear and 50 steers, add two 12g shotguns,case of clay birds,one trap,shells. Mix with 4 kids,one wife and me.
Time to teach my 14yr old to shoot.(He thought it was time.)The kids did 90% of the shooting,wife and I the rest.
It is a blast to see a boy turn his first clay to dust.
Oldest son and two friends went to the rifle range to sight in his 308 and to have fun with a mini-14 and a 30-30. All can back in one piece.(you can never tell about 19 yr olds. They know everything.)
My 16 yr old chew my backside for not setting the safty. Sometimes you must take the same medicine that you give.
It was fun.Stay safe.

This is the best kinda shooting you can do. Luckily, being out in Utah - there are still places where you can go and do this!

These places are ebbing like an out going tide - So enjoy them while you can!

My uncle (gun nut) was a civi defense employee stationed for awhile in N. Utah working on missiles. He and my aunt have a bunch of stories about shooting jackrabbits with every kind of gun imaginable. They say the jackrabbit supply never ends, and when you shoot one and leave it, a few weeks later a sagebrush pops up from the ground where the nutrients from the carcass was absorbed into the soil.

You telling me that a jackrabbit has something in 'em. :)
I like to watch a coyote or six get after a jack.Far better than nascar.
 
Or a Hawk trying for a prarie dog...

It is amazing - when I first came here I thought this was as void as the surface of the moon. After awhile you realize it is so full of life - it's like everything crawls.

Can't take a step with out walking on deer shat.
