I'm hoping this will be considered gun related, because I think as a leader of the anti gun movement everything Michael Moore related is somewhat gun related.
Anyway,
Every now and then I spend a little time reading michaelmoore.com and bradycampaign.org. It's interesting to see how the other half thinks, and I recommend it to anyone.
Bradycampaign.org gets very little updating, which is a good sign in my book. The vitriol they spew at us gun owners is amazing, but I guess to be expected (someday they'll have to update their gun map for how many more states we've won over to CCL!)
But as for Michael Moore ...
My first experience with the RAIF (Rotund and Ignorant Filmaker) was "Bowling for Columbine." Now ... to be honest ... I didn't find this film as offensive as most people here. It mostly seemed to be an attack on the American culture vs. the guns (at one point he says that Canadians have as many guns per person as we do but have a low murder rate) and I can't say that's completely unwarranted. Our culture could use some fixing, for sure.
That we have a culture of fear vs. Canada is ridiculous (Talk with a Canadian about some of the things Mikey says sometime -- like Canadians not locking house doors) but nonetheless while the film was manipulative and biased that was OK, because it was a documentary and therefore it's OK if it gives a single viewpoint.
Kind of vicious how it attacked Charlton Heston, but he was the NRA pres at the time. Hard to know if the RAIF knew he had alzheimers or not.
The more I read his website, however, the more I realize he's not just a left wing zealot. He's truly hateful of America. He sneers at us and our choices. Here's one little snippet from his current article on his website: Michael Moore Crap
So all American corporations are dishonorable? So we all work for or run a dishonorable company? Nowhere in America are there honorable companies? Not like all those other countries where profit doesn't matter and the workers all live like kings?
This is a good site to go to, though, because it also shows the truth about many things. Like Cindy Sheehan.
Now ... I have nothing but respect for the grieving families of fallen soldiers, and I particularly understand their anger at the seemingly endless war that took their lives for those that don't believe in it. I also have nothing but respect for people who oppose the war in an upright, American fashion, even if I don't join their side.
But at sites like Michael Moore, Cindy (and others) is actually taking cheapshots at none other than the current Pres. Bushes 80+ MOTHER.
Don't know if any of you caught this, but recently Mrs. Bush (senior) did an interview at the astrodome -- a place she went to as a private citizen to help out. While there she made a statement, and this is what you can find at the Michael Moore Site: MM Crap II
Now ... sounds pretty cruel, right? Well, if you look around the net (couldn't find my link) you can actually find some sites that have the audio. This is NOT what she said. They made a slight change. No president's wife would say anything that insane/insensitive. They're far too used to being in the public eye, no matter whay they may think at home. What she really said was:
See how different it is when you correct the punctuation and take out the TOTALLY fictitious laugh?
Cindy Sheehan crows over this.
As the father of a little girl I don't know how I would feel if she were lost in a war I really hated. But if she had gone of her own choice I would be proud of her decision to serve. I would be proud of her courage. Even if I thought the war was dishonorable, the warrior who fights it for honorable reasons is still an honored hero.
And however much I hated the politician who sent her there, I wouldn't be attacking him via his 80+ year old mother's statements while she's trying to help the less fortunate.
Anyway,

CBC has locked out its union workers, an action that is abhorrent to all who believe in the rights of people to collectively bargain. Why the great and honorable CBC is behaving like an American corporation is beyond me.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."
