The rarest Smith and Wesson - Dan Wesson Ever?

A few of you may be aware of Jim Cirillo and his book about Gunfighting and law enforcement. He first suggested mating a Smith and Wesson frame to a Dan wesson barrel. At that time the Dan wesson company was undergoing one of its many restructurings and this project never made it off the ground. Recently, Dan Wesson was merged with CZ USA and before the merger, they sold off some of their project guns. I happened to be lucky enough to catch them at the right time. Dan Wesson had acquired 6 smith and wesson frames for 22, 357, 41, and 44 cals with the intention of doing a Jim Cirillo commemorative. This gun pictured is the ONLY one to leave the factory with a fully ported 6 inch barrel. It is truly a work of art. It is not stamped with the S&W logo, and the serial number starts with JC for Jim C., then "N" denoting the frame type. Enjoy the pics. The last one is a pic beside a Dan Wesson 44.

I'm wondering if we might see this yet.

Now that S&W has gone to the new style barrel assembly, which is really nothing more than a non-owner removable shrouded two piece barrel, I'm wondering if S&W won't take the next step and fit their revolvers with a barrel nut so the owner can switch barrels.

I'm not sure how S&W marketing would view this.
It'd be essentially a copy of Dan Wesson's idea, and it could cut into S&W sales numbers since owners might just buy new barrels instead of different guns.

Before I decide if I like you or not (kidding)

:) What did you pay for that work of art?
And unless you doctored the pictures its one of the best finishes I have ever seen on a Smith frame.

I remember seeing a bunch of "Dan-Wesson" conversions

in the pages of Guns & Ammo in the 80s. S&W frame, Wesson bbls. Very interesting concept. Hope you enjoy your toys and let us know how they perform.
