The problem with polls.

I do not trust them because it is too easy to manipulate the information in any way you want.

In a poll I saw this was the first poll question.
Do you support some level of gun control?

It was followed by many other questions and some sounded supported of both sides of the argument. Taken as a whole the poll looks legit, but in the end, the first question alone is all they need to bring up. And then it alone supports the statement;

"Most Americans are in favor of gun control measures."
or
"Most Americans are in favor of strict gun control measures."
or
"Most Americans are in favor of tough gun control legislature."

They will take whatever they want out of context to support their objectives.

Yup, it's just like statistics, anyone can twist them to do what they want. The best is when they use leading questions in polls then refer to them as actual concrete statistics. Current POTUS is great at doing just that...

Honest gun issue polls that not are politically driven find two things:

1. Most Americans favor gun laws to keep guns from criminals (that's gun control).

2. Most Americans favor law abiding citizens having the right to own guns for self-defense.

The devil is in the details and the polls can manipulate measures that having seeming surface validity.
