The Perfect Christmas Gift

Over 80% of over 25,000 who responded to the msnbc poll said they thought guns were perfectly acceptable Christmas presents. I love it.

I hope other TFLers are adding to that percentage. Hit the OP's link; poll is at the bottom.

Not all the hand-wringing you usually see in such articles in the MSM. The observation that it is becoming more socially acceptable to own guns is also heartening!

If only my wife would get the message and buy me a nice new sig just in time for x mas....alas....socks it is again.

She is getting a K9 though, she just doesn't know it yet.

I find the Brady argument hilarious BTW.

"Caroline Brewer, director of communications at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, called the Black Friday surge a "one-time event." She said any increase in gun purchases "may be the result of marketing.""
I guess we see that different. I see it as very plausible. Guns were promoted a lot more this year in the Black Friday ads than they were in any of the previous 5 years that I'm aware of.
Yes -I'm a Black Friday fan & I follow that sort of thing.
Previous Black Friday ads usually had a shotgun and/or a black powder rifle or two and that was it.
Cabella's may have had a .22 pistol..

This year, there were several rifles, shotguns & for the first time I'm aware of, several handguns.

Now this:
"More people are buying guns these days, particularly handguns, said Cai von Rumohr, managing director at investment company Cowen & Co. For all of November, the number of background checks processed by the FBI rose by around 16 percent vs. year-ago levels.

"These numbers have been relatively strong, and I think more of it has been the trend towards lower-priced, smaller weapons," von Rumohr said. For the most part, it's unlikely these weapons are being bought to wrap up and put under a Christmas tree; many states have laws that prohibit buying a gun for someone else."

Is misleading. IMHO - the remark is inflamatory in that it gives the impression these sales are "straw purchases".
Plus, what does an investment company have to do with retail sales anyhow?

didn't see the poll at first glace

But got it the second time thanks to mleak shedding light on it. I was happily surprised by the percent of people who approve of them being gifts. It was common to see them in my neck of the woods, I just didn't think it was like that in so many places.

I still don't understand how they are more socially acceptable now than they where a few years ago. But glad they are anyways :)

To good to be true.

Sorry but, I have to call my propaganda card.

Looks good, and optimistic, but, to many holes to fill in the perceived factual statements.

Are you referring to the Black Friday article or the poll that followed?
What holes do you see?
Just curious.

I went down to the mall, sat on Santas lap and told him I want a new colt 45, a new remington 30-06, and any other firearms he had laying around....

I sure do feel bad for that brady fellow, he got a bad deal from that guy but why oh why should every law abiding citizen suffer for it?

I sent them an email told em outlaw guns and only outlaws will have them, can you come keep me safe? havent had a reply yet
