If you had an opportunity to choose one handgun that you never again had to pay for ammunition to shoot, which would it be and briefly why? I have a feeling caliber size would play a role in this decision but just curious.

Probably a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. The .45 Colt is a pussycat as a target load and with heavy handloads I'd feel confident with it on any game in the lower 48 states. It's also hard to beat the .45 Colt for nostalgia. A Super Redhawk in .454 Casull would be a pretty good alternate.

357. Just based on how much I shoot it. 44 mag cost me more, but I can keep up with how much I shoot it by reloading.

Depends on the ammo. If I could shoot high end target ammo it would be a high end target pistol.
A Sphinx 3000 or a one of the new adjustable sight SIG 210s would be nice.

I would go with my 500 mag, shooting factory ammo would be alot more convenient than spending a day reloading. I would wear the barrel out of that gun if I could shoot it for free. It is one of my favorite guns to shoot, now if I could get free range time, I would be good to go.

My choice

My choice will be the Springfield Armory 1911 milspec in 45 acp. I what I carry most of the time, it is what I feel comfortable shoot day to day. I is a soild weapon:cool:

It'd be in .45 ACP, that's for darn sure.

I rarely shoot my .45 ACP 1911 anymore, even though I reload ...... lead is spendy these days, if you are paying in American dollars.

My redhawk in .44 mag, but i would want a longer barrel version than my alaskan.

EDIT: Could i also use the free .44 mag ammo for my 1894? lol

.38 Special ammo for me,,,

I would like to see if I could actually wear one of these out.

A S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece,,,
Or the stainless equivalent Model 67.
