Apparently, I thought these wouldn't be available until early June. It's basically the regular CZ-75 Compact, with a standard glock rail added. CZ fans also tell me that it contains other slight engineering improvements over the older non-rail PCR design.

Anyhow, I saw one of these sitting in the case down at my local small-town gun shop, and the owner says it's been there for about a month. Looks like CZ got these into production quick! They're priced at $399, which is the same as the old PCRs, so I imagine they will replace them rather quickly.

Its actually a good looking gun without the cheesy *ss light on it.
Alot of people think its just a worked over PCR, but Ive heard from guys who are in with the Czech gun factory that its a pretty new design and is an improvement over any other CZ for the internals. The trigger is supposed to be better than the CZ83...which would be hard to do...but sooooo nice if it is.
Shoot well

I will never understand the obsession so many manufacturers have with putting accessory rails on pistols.
I mean, sure, on a full-size, CQB, room-clearing or home defense gun, I can understand it.
But as far as I'm concerned, compact handguns should be as unobtrusive as possible in order to facilitate concealment and ease the carrying of the weapon.
No one in their right mind would CCW with a gun that had a light hanging off of it. (Certain mitigating circumstances not withstanding of course.)

Did anyone read the pistol's description or just jump straight to assumptions? It is the new Czech National POLICE pistol. It is not primarily designed for CCW. It is designed to be worn in a duty holster, on a duty belt.

You mean HK rails.
HK had them first. Glock copied them.

If Glock had copied the HK rail, we would all have to buy overpriced ULM's.

HK may have had them first, but Glock does it better.

The back ones are deeper for a better grip. I think that is one of the improvements CZ worked into the guns.
Could be easier to rack the slide with gloves on than with the shallow PCR design.

Its neat that a shop already has these sell. I had understood June at the earliest.

Have yet to see them listed on the online sellers.
There was a good writeup about these in the American Rifleman about 2-3 issues ago if you are a memeber of the NRA had get the mag.

These P-01s will have to be pure magic to be better than the PCRs. But given the Company, they may be.

Agreed. Hopefully, one day consumer demand will cause certain gunmakers with annoying, proprietary rails (like HK, Sig Sauer, Walther) to standardize, much like the Weaver/Picatinny rails. Imagine using the same Streamlight M3 on your G17, USP, SigPro, and P99, as well as your AR, 870... :)

What's up with the slide serrations ?

The back serrations are the ORIGINAL type found on CZs (like vertical serrations on 1911s), and something I hope they bring back, along with round triggerguards.

The standartization of accessory rails already begun - the new Beretta 92 Vertec is having the exact Glock size and so does the CZ-75 P01!
