The Lee pot project

I picked up a junker pot from a fellow, but he had ordered a new liner, coil, thermostat, jumper, plunger rod, and instructions for it and for some reason didn't want to install em. He was only askin' $3 more than the cost of the replacement parts, and it is full of 10# of his boolit alloy too! I think I came out okay! :)

I believe this one will live to drip again! ;):p

I haven't checked yet, but I'm hoping the pot will sit in my 20# ladling pot and I can melt it that way. It'll be close.

This will be my 3rd pot. Currently, I use the 20# for my isotope alloy and the 10# for my pure lead. I wanted this one to do some experimenting with alloys and see if I can grow some mushrooms like Rangefinder and Mike/Tx. ;)

Yep... This'll be 10 more # of the wonderful HPWC's! :D

Saturday update

Since it was raining... I was able to stay indoors and install the new pot, plunger and coil. I'm thinking now that I may just bolt the aluminum faceplate of this assembly to a 2x4, just as it is, and add a base to it to make a custom height pot, and also I would like to toss the old switch and just run the power through a standard house dimmer switch, so I might have a little better control of the heat.
But.... it's coming along nicely! :)

I been thinking and measuring.....

Good idea. A torch would work, but I figured I would end up with a very hot ingot, still wet on the outside when it fell out. The old pot will fit down inside my 20# pot, so I'm going to float it in there and when everything melts, I'll ladle it nearly dry, then carefully pour it out with some long channel locks and gloves, and toss the old pot. :)

For a guy who lives "Back in the woods a piece" Seems like you got things all figured out there Beagle. If you need to get rid of that old chunk of nasty look'in lead I suppose I can can help you out there 333._:cool:

S/S_:)

Just tossing this out there, if you want to put some risers back on that thing, and can find some 1/4" OD SS tubing it works really well and the screws will fit in there nice and tight.

I put the old bucket down in my 20# pot and it melted and drained right out the spout hole into the bigger pot. 'Gotta salvage that 10# of lead! :D
