My name is Tom, and I have a gadget fetish.

My buddy accused me the other day of having an unbelievable amount of "stuff" hanging from my batbelt and person everyday. I live by the boyscout creedo..."Be Prepared"

Is this too much?

Glock 30, Sidearmor IWB
Dual Surefire 6P/.45 mag carrier
Benchmade M2 Nimravus
REKAT Sifu clipped in left front pocket
Benchmade M2 Stryker clipped in right pocket
Spyderco Native in change pocket
Leatherman Wave
Spyderco Spyderwrench on keys
Zippo
Cellphone
Wallet
Brush (no comments please!)

Ok, what do you guys carry for a normal loadout? Do you need therapy too?

(Sorry couldn't resist)

So, uh, Zebrahead...

What brand suspenders did you say you wear?

(It's a tad conspicuous when a man attatches LBE webbing to the tops of his Haggar slacks...)

Well, as long as your ankles and knees ain't over-loaded...And you don't walk funny...

Do you ever have any problem in decision-making? As in "Which to use?! Which to use?!" This can lead to "Oops...Too late."

Hmmm. Maybe I'll buy a belt.

Not bad for starters Tom. I go a bit heavier on ammo and definately would carry spare flint for the Zippo. No back up gun? Bout four 18" zip ties come in handy for restraining surving perps without the bulk of cuffs. Since your name is Tom, definately should have a piece of chalk and a dead frog.

Nikita Khrushchev!." We cannot expect the Americans to jump from capitalism to communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of socialism, until they suddenly awake to find they have communism."

Long Path, no LBE gear. Yet.

Art Eatman, try MD Enterprises for a great gunbelt at a good price. I have no sagging!

C.R. Sam, surviving perps?! And what about chalk and dead frogs??

Zeeb,

"Is this too much?" you asked, I'd say one or two less knives...and this is coming from a knife freak myself.

I'm an Eagle Scout so I'm all for being prepared, but I think you've got an overkill situation there. Plus, if you ever got frisked, you'd be taken for a "nutbag" for carrying so much weaponry EVEN THOUGH you may have a permit to carry the firearm and there are generally no laws on knife carry and quantity.

Hydejam, I know about the knives...the Stryker is actually being retired to my GF, but gosh darn it...they are so tough to let go..!

You forgot a good ( Swiss made Swiss Army knife) an essential survuvak tool and while you are at it, get a SureFire Laser flash kight and of course you need a good canteen, and a dirst aid kit and....

You have too many knives. Two will suffice.
You need an extra one or two ammo mags for the 30. You need an OC spray. You need a backup gun - mouse gun or lite weight snubby in your pocket might work.

You need a back up light source, since you are risk of tactical trouser drop (TTD), I recommend a couple of Photon lites - one white and one red (for dark adaptation).

You need some kind of firestarter - even a small pack of survival type matches.

A GPS system, a laptop, a phaser, a condom, fishhooks, bait, Green Lantern's power ring
- never mind this last stuff.

Mean mean stride,
Today's Tom Sawyer
Mean mean pride.

Though his mind is not for rent,
Don't put him down as arrogant.
His reserve, a quiet defense,
Riding out the day's events.

Kimber Man is right on target (pun fully intended.)

However a mini light and knife should be required gear.

And an ASP, and a can of OC, and possibly a lead sap. It's a damn shame a 3 foot riot baton can't double as a fashionable cane.

I must have the Robin Belt, or at least the Alfred model. Surfire 6P and Benchmade Mini AFCK M2. No CCW in IL.

I'll probably have to get a cell phone holster since a jacket in the Chicagoland summertime is durn uncomfortable.

Pager, pistol and sometimes a cell phone. If I remember, I keep a small flashlight in my pocket. In my other pockets I keep a cash wallet and a badge wallet (I never mix the two).

While I to have been labeld Inspector Gadget by my wife for all the gizmos I tend to pack... I am sensing some redundancy in your Edged weapons and tools. I'ld drop those by 50% - pack say, the Nimravus or Sifu with the Native...
I like to pack simple.

My daily gear at this point in time:
Springfield .45 (which one varies day to day)
SOG Vision (or my BM TFL AFCK - depending on mood)
Spare Mag
Nokia
Wallet & Keys.

Thats it.
