The HK P7-M8 refurbs.

I finally got one of these today, but I do have a few questions. I got two brand new mags with the gun, but they did not have HK on them anywhere. This is what they had stamped on them located on the the bottom flat part of the magazine body -- not the floor plate. The floor plate had no stampings.

That was all that was stamped on them besides the witness hole numbers. These are brand new mags, but are they original HK?

Another question. The gun had brand new sights on it, but the rear sight has no windage adjustment screw which contradicts the HK instruction manual. What is the deal on that?

Oh yeah, the slide had that plum color, but I know this is from the reblueing process, and is of no concern to me because I am going to have it chrome plated.

Overall the weapon was in excellent condition, and I got a good buy I think. Heck, even the case looked new.

You've got factory magazines

The "id," is a date stamp, of the date of manufacture of the magazine. Each letter relates to a month or year. Could say id, JC, IR, etc. somebody else might be able to reply to what date "id" or any other combination stands for specifically. If not I've seen the code key somewhere on the web before, maybe check some HK forums, should't be too hard to find. I've never seen two magazines alike in date.

I'd bet that your rear sight block is authentic also, later M8's didn't incorporate the set screw, I wouldn't worry about any drifting.

Great purchase!

Thanks Clarence8 for the piece of mind on the mag issue. It was just the fact that there was no HK stamping on the mag, and this threw me for a loop. Sling Shot

I don't think H&K stamps any of their metal pistol magazines with their name. The USP plastics have it in the bottom.

Hi Clarence8-

My spare P7M10 magazines have similar markings to what you've stated and they were drop-shipped straight to my local dealer from HK in Sterling, Virginia about 2 weeks after my sidearm and 2 original magazines arrived. These 2 original magazines also share the same stamps.

Sounds like you're in good shape...

I am curious about two things: What is the "grind mark(s)" that I've read about concerning the re-furbs? I know they are supposed to have new barrels and internals, but is the exterior finish(blueing?) the same as on NIB guns?
Thanks, VL

The mark on your slide is where the seal for the particular west german police/border patrol that had your weapon. this had a emblem and a serial number on it. if you notice, your new serial number is in a slightly different color. the plum slide is because the p7 is from a special grade of steel-it is very tough. Due to the toughness (such as m2 steel in benchmade knives)-a high carbon content-it is prone to rust if not properly cared for (try tuf cloth). You will also want to replace the sights-I might suggest meprolights-I know where you can get some for $65-email me if you are interested.
any more p7 questions, email me-I have been shooting m8's for almost 17 years.
cheers,
