The Green Party

I've been noticing a growing concern in the Gore campaign about the Ralph Nader's Green Party. Now with the acceptance of preferred nation status for China, with the strong support of the Clinton/Gore administration, this concern has been heightened. Labor Unions have started to throw their support to the Greens.

The first problem the Greenies have is that they must qualify to be on the ballots of each state by getting sufficient signatures.

I suggest we help them by calling and offering our signatures and those of other gun owners!

Make no mistake the Greenies are no friends of ours, but they serve a useful purpose. To the degree that they succeed they siphon voters away from the Democrats ... all Democrats, and they force the Democrats to spend time and money shoring up their core constituency instead of reaching out for new voters.

They are a big "vote sink" where Democratic/Liberal votes are expended with no effect, at least no effect in determining the US president in the next term. They're a "protest vote". And dealing with this will force Gore to the left, where he belongs, and scuttle his attempts to appear more "moderate". A double whammy!

In California they siphon off a full 10% of the liberal vote! This makes California a possibility for a Republican win. If they are running Senate and House candidates in a state, the high profile of their presidential race can create enough interest to siphon liberal votes away here too.

I think we ought to make sure they appear on every ballot in every state!

divide and conquer.....sounds like an age old strategy. Hope it works.....btw dont be so sure that the labor unions wont continue their support for the democrats. At the last fund raiser 10 labor union each gave $500K, for a total of 5 million to the democratic soft money fund raiser.....although apparently the hierarchy did not attend the fund raiser. They are probably positioning themselves for less heat from the rank and file over the china trade agreement and their financial support of the administration....fubsy.

The Union leadership may throw money to Gore, but I'll guarantee that the rank and file will be "Reagan" Democrats and vote for GW.

Oh oh! Here we go. Lets us not forget where the Green party first gained power. In Germany. Think about where most of the political ideologies we have had to fight in the last century have started. Fascism (the nazis) and communism had their start in Germany. The protestant reformation, that sparked hundreds of years of wars in europe, also started there.

The green party is just another form of communism hiding behind the guise of environmentalism. The movement in Germany bears watching.

Let's not forget that both communism and Nazism were active in the US at one time.

One reason to vote in the next Presidential election.

It's the Supreme Court, Stupid!

K80Geoff: No doubt about the Greens are a nightmare in Deutchland! They have proven to be violent and authoritarian in their actions, and entirely devoted to collectivism, as long as it's a collective that promotes their ideaology. They seem more benign here, but it remains to be seen what they'd do if they had a chance at power.

I'm no promoter of the Greens ... but it's fun to watch them give the Democrats, who seem to be adopting their authoritarian collectivist thinking as fast as they can, trouble.

Is that because Bush was against PNTR for China? Oh, I forgot. He supported it, too. And the GOP voted for it in MUCH larger numbers than the Dem's. Yeah, that'll endear the unions to GW for sure.

Whole heartedly encourage your liberal friends to support and vote for Ralph Nader! At best they are predicted to gather 5% of the vote. (2%-3% is probably more realistic.) All 5% of which draws from the democrats and Al Gore. :)

The upper folks in the union will get a paycheck no matter what . The poor slobs at the bottom will lose jobs by the hundreds . The ones that lose jobs can't vote the union heads out . The ones left will be grateful to have a job at all and vote for status quo .
The union higher ups will solicit funds and programs for the poor laid off union people . They could be re-trained at Gov't ( Hey , that's us ) expense for new opportunities . To those poor tortured souls let me offer a bit of job guidance . Cross Wendy's off the list of those to receive your new resume .Also you need to realize that other companies will not give union pay . They will want to pay you what you are worth to them .It works in China .
