The Granddaughter and the Python

We've had the teen grandaughter with us for a couple of days and yesterday I asked if she wanted to do some shooting. She said yes and that she'd rather shoot pistols than rifles. No problem...so after explaining safety rules and getting ear and eye protection, I brought out the Colt Diamondback and she banged away with that for a while, only making one fearful squeak the first time the pistol fired. Then I got the Python and some mild 38 Special loads and she banged away with that. I asked if she was ready to shoot the hot magnum loads and she smiled and said "sure". With that 4 inch barrel, and the hot 125 grain loads, that is one loud pistol. She might have squeaked when that one went off, but I couldn't hear it. Then she banged away with a 9 mil Beretta, but put that down and wanted the Python back - with the magnum loads. She was plunking those bullets into the target quite well, I must say. That pistol will loosen your tooth fillings after a while, but she had no complaints. What a nice morning that was.

Your grandaughter sounds like quite a lady. Congratulations. Keep her shooting as long as you can afford ammo! LOL

Some fine treasures you have there, but the greatest is your granddaughter. Priceless moment. I hope you guys have many more. :)

wait a minute... trying not to shed man tears here.. ;) ok i'll be alright now!! seriously, i hope to have stories like that to share soon with my kids and then my grandkids. by the way, if you ever DO decide to sell that snake...:D

Ain't sellin the Python. I might have to leave it to her. Man, ya shoulda seen that kid thumbing back the hammer and pounding the target. Two handed grip, and she looked like she had done that for years. I videoed it for her. I wonder what her cheer leading buddies will say. I could not have been happier or more proud.

My neices shoot, my good brother has instilled in them everything they need to protect themselves and gather food if the need is there. We all go hunting and fishing. Them little girls well not so little now shoot so fine, just like my nephew did. He went on to be a Marine.

That is awesome i cant wait until my girl gets old enough to shoot the big revolvers! Right now we shoot the lil 22 ruger and she loves it. Sounds like your granddaughter is very lucky to shoot fine guns i own a python and diamondback and have never shot either lol maybe when my girl gets old enough we will both shoot them for the first time.

Spoiled ROTTEN, I say, just like Grandchildren should be! :D

You couldn't start her with a solid, working man's Ruger or a completely serviceable Model 10? Noooooo, you've got to hand the kid a Diamondback and follow that up with a Python for cryin' out loud!

What's your next trick Grandpa?! From here, not a heap of revolvers are going to impress that girl!

Well done and heck yeah, I'm jealous, I've got no problem saying it! :p

Sounds like time well spent. :) I'd just make sure to tell her about the rather substantial difference in decibel levels between hot .357s and the milder rounds like 9mm should she one day need to fire them without hearing protection, it's no joke!!

Ditto what Sevens said!!

I guess you could get her a gull wing Mercedes for her first car lol

(just kidding) ya done good gramps I'm impressed.

Great personal story. I chuckled when you said your grand daughter 'squeaked' the first time she shot. :) But, she kept shooting and liked it. Any young man she eventually marries better be a shooter . . . and a handloader too !
