The Fantasy Rifle

Don't know if his has been covered before, (probably has and I'm to friggin lazy to do a search), but here goes:

Say you just inherited a large estate from some long distant relative. Included in the deal is your choice of rifle. Any rifle.

Sharpe's....M1...M14/M1A...Brown Bess....Anything at all.

No monetary limit...only the U.S. legal system to deal with...

I'm kind of thinking about Match M1, maybe a Sharpes, some seriously ludicrous thing like a $40K British shotgun.

Wow, hard to top the Blaser. Excellent choice.

If Blaser is taken, give me another Steyr Scout. Two is one; one is none.

A .40-65 Winchester 1886 with a 26" barrel and case hardened reciever. Or a .40-50 BN Remington rolling block with full octagon or half round/half octagon barrel of 26-28 inches.

Either would be a pure pleasure rifle to take me back to the 1800s. They wouldn't be the best for anything but would be fun and would get used.

I would like to point out that if money is no limit, then the US legal system doesn't have to be dealt with. I'd get a Windrunner in .408 CheyTac.

Totally unlimited resources and time for the research and development? A Springfield Armory M1A- chambered in 300 Weatherby. It could be done, but man what a monster! Twenty round magazine of course.

Krieghoff Big Five double rifle in 500/416 nitro, with a spare set of barrels in 30-06 and 20 ga shotgun barrels. With Bulino engraving of cape buffaloes and elephants on the sideplates.

Just one fantasy rifle?

Erma SR-100 and/or Walther WA2000

Hitler's PPK would be a nice addition to anyone's collection (sorry I know, its not a rifle)

Teddy Roosevelts Winchester Md 95 in .405 that he used on his african safari. Or WDM Bells .275 rigby mauser that he took the majority of his elephants with. Or Otto Skorzenys FG42.

hmmmmmm

A nice holland and holland royal double or a .425 westly richards.

Then again where I'm from a 'daniel boone" rifle is more likely of a find. It would need historical papers.

Then again a full auto BAR would be the bee's knees.
