... it is raining heavily outside with no signs of abating making outdoor chores an impossiblilty, and I have 150 rounds of untweeked milspec ammo upstairs and I own a Lyman Gen 6.

IT'S RELOADING TIME!! :D:D:D

To think that I used to believe something like an automatic scale/thrower was an indulgence.... pah!

That was one of the best buys I've made. My afternoon is sorted.

I will be in my own little world of zen for the next few hours as I pull, collet size, charge and seat my ammo turning them from a somewhat jumbled set of specs to a nice uniform batch of Pond Specials.

Thank you Estonian summer.

Yea, I have Hornady's Auto Charge, those computerized powder dispensers sure change a hum-drudgery job of having to use scales to pure bliss, don't they.

Best piece of reloading equipment I have ever bought also.

Do you have to push the start button on that Lyman every time to empty the pan on your Lyman?

Mine starts by itself when the I put the pan back on the scale and it re-zeros.

Good on you.

I was at it last weekend when it rained re-forming 223 to 221 Fireball ... Reloading Nirvana!

The rainy weekend before I was casting bullets for my 45-70.

Hey if ya can't mow ya gotta stay productive.

Well, one aspect of unforming my milspec ammo stock is that, not only do you need to pull all the bullets to get the powder charge just right, you also need to clean the neck and bullet of each and every round to remove the tar seal.

ALl that means that I spent hours doing case prep and bullet seating with about 8 back-to-back episodes of Walking Dead to catch up on. I only stopped watching to focus fully on the powder charges. Once my seating die was set, though, back to the sofa with a tray of charged cases and a fistful of bullets.

Prepped round-count: 150!:D

Sako2,

It sounds like you've had an issue with your copy of this machine. What powder? How much too high are we talking about?

If you apply a check weight to the scale, does it tend to drift lower over time? Or is the excess weight what you read showing on the scale readout itself? If the former, then it should go back to the factory for repair. If the latter, have you checked the dispensed charges on another scale or poured back on the unit's scale after rezeroing to see if the chargers are actually off?

If the charge weights are actually off, is the error consistent? If it is consistent (producing an offset) the third possibility is simple overshoot. That is, the dispenser can't stop the flow of this particular powder fast enough to land on the correct reading. If that is happening, I would expect that to be fairly consistent and that you could compensate by lowering the grain number you request. If this is the problem, I would also write the factory about it so they are aware of it.

Would be a huge waste of money for me as I have years of experience dispensing granuals from a pharmacy scoop. Just takes a tap of the index finger.

Unclenick it's with any powder I dispense. It will drop 4 or 5 charges good then drop the next couple 2 tenths over. Yes when i bought it i checked them on my beam scale and they where over. The powder I'm working with now is imr7828ssc.
