The FA-91 (aluminum reciever HK clone). Got some questions.

I acquired one of these rifles a couple years ago. Since then I might have 200 rounds through it at the most.

I bought it used, so I have no idea how many rounds the previous owner put through it. I have recently got it out from storage and was doing a little research on the weapon and on a another board (found in a Google search)I read something about these rifles falling apart, because of the welds in the aluminum forged receiver giving way.

Now we shouldn't always believe what we read, so with the intentions of getting more info, I saw it fit to get a more direct opinion from some of the HK guys here. It is understandable that this was not the most loved HK-91 clone out there. Yet, will the welds give out and the barrel and cocking tube go flying off eventually?!? Sounds like if that was a possibility one would hear more about it.

Now a second question is about putting the parts on a stamped steel receiver if I wanted to? Could Springfield or the company that makes the PTR-91 do that for me? If I bought one of their stamped steel receivers, and send them my parts?

HkPro...

You should head over to the hkpro forums, there are guys on there who can answer this question as well as posters who can do this type of work for you.

You'll probably want to go w/ a PTR91 manufactured receiver as it is stamped from original Hk dies.
