Honorable Congressman/Senator XXX,

As a registered voter & law abiding citizen, I am outraged by the recent attempt in Washington to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, and I want you to understand that law breaking interlopers should not be rewarded for their actions. I implore you to oppose any legislation that results in the legalization of millions of illegal immigrants.

Your priorities concerning this matter should be to secure our nation’s borders through the proper funding & erection of a security fence, and to insure that our existing immigration laws are enforced to the fullest extent possible.

The vast majority of Americans realize that granting amnesty to tens of millions of low skilled, largely uneducated illegal aliens will have catastrophic social and economic consequences. Add to that the security risk that open borders pose to our nation in a time of war, and it should be obvious that any sane immigration policy should focus exclusively on securing our borders & law enforcement.

Millions of Americans feel passionately about this issue, and we intend to keep a close eye on how our elected representatives deal with this issue in the upcoming weeks and months. For the sake of our nation’s future, I urge you to stand up for the rule of law and secure our borders now!

Sincerely,

Honorable Representative/Senator XXX,

As a voting, tax paying American who is concerned about his nation’s future, I implore you to oppose any so-called "guest-worker” legislation that leads to the legalization of millions of illegal aliens. Instead, I ask that you concentrate on securing our nation’s borders and on punishing law breakers... both illegal immigrants & those who hire them.

Semantics aside, it is clear what many in our government are seeking... amnesty for illegal aliens. This is simply unacceptable!

Rewarding long-time lawbreakers with a "path to citizenship" is a slap in the face to every legal immigrant who has played by our rules, paid their dues, obeyed the law, and waited their turn for the privilege to come here. In addition, illegal immigrants & the employers who hire them are keeping wages artificially low, and that is an affront to all low-income Americans & honest, legal immigrants.

I want to remind you that we are a sovereign nation that follows the rule of law, not the will of marching, protesting law-breakers. Emigrating to this nation is a privilege to be earned, not a “right” to be demanded. Thus, I once again urge you to oppose any effort to legalize illegal immigrants, and I ask that you work to secure our nation’s borders now, and in the future.

Thank you for your time, and I would appreciate a reply in order to learn your position on this very important issue.

Respectfully,

Honorable Congressman/Senator XXX,

I am deeply troubled by the recent efforts on Capitol Hill to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, and I want to encourage you to work against the passage of any & all legislation that allows these law breaking aliens to remain in our country. Please work on securing our nation’s borders and on enforcing the immigration laws that are already on the books.

America simply cannot open the floodgate to tens of millions of unskilled, uneducated immigrants without bankrupting and destroying our society. Please do not reward these illegal immigrants who have violated our laws.. After all, we are a nation of laws, are we not?

I also ask that you not buy into the “big lie” that Americans won't work basic-skill jobs, thus the need for illegal immigrant labor.. American citizens worked these types of jobs before there were millions of illegal aliens working off-the-books, and depressing wages. Low-income Americans and honest, legal immigrants would gladly fill these jobs if available. Thus, we need to punish all law-breakers... both illegal immigrants & those those business that hire them.

Once again, I strongly urge you to oppose any legislation that ultimately leads to the legalization of millions of illegal immigrants, and I implore you to secure our nation’s borders as soon as humanly possible. The future of our nation as a sovereign entity may depend on it.

Regards,

Honorable Senator/Congressman XXX

Please understand, in no uncertain terms, that the American people DO NOT WANT AMNESTY granted to millions of illegal aliens!

WE DEMAND THAT OUR NATION’S BORDERS BE SECURED & THAT CURRENT IMMIGRATION LAWS BE ENFORCED!

If my tone is curt, or even rude, it is because I am frustrated by the lack of representation that is being displayed by my leaders in Washington concerning the matter of illegal immigration. Most seem beholden to the foreign law-breakers, and not to the honest, tax paying American citizens who put them in office. That is simply reprehensible!

Trust that we are not stupid or misinformed. In spite of all the clever euphemisms & political spin, Americans recognize amnesty when they see it. We know when we are being sold-out & lied to by the very people who should be working to further our interests, and we will remember the actions of those who vote in favor of amnesty for illegals none too fondly come Election Day, 2008... count on it!

Once more, the vast majority of Americans DO NOT WANT AMNESTY granted to millions of illegal interlopers, and we want you to do your duty to this nation by SECURING OUR BORDERS & ENFORCING OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS!

Ignore these sentiments at your own political peril.

Respectfully,

As always, feel free to mix & match & cut & paste these letters in any way you see fit. Also, please add your own unique sample letters for others to draw ideas & inspiration from!!!

Don't say I never did anything for ya...

Here's one that will make your head spin: Idaho's Senator Larry Craig is silently fighting for this legislation!

The rest of Idaho's congressional contingent is against these amnesty programs.

immigration. These guys will let you know when they need you to call, or push a button&fax our traitorous senators&congresspeople.

Sent the following to both my Senators:
The Honorable Senator Craig,

Re: No, on S. 1639

The actions, of late, in the Senate over the immigration bills, the previous bill S. 1348 and the new S. 1639, are nothing short of deplorable.

These bills are amnesty bills, pure and simple. The public is outraged that the Senate would even consider these avenues of approach.

President Bush has the power and authority and the funding to secure the borders, even now. He would have had no objections in the entire Congress, had he secured the borders, post 9/11, for reasons of national security. All the funding the United States could bring to the table, would have been his. He didn't even try.

It occurs to me, and apparently the majority of the voting public, that Border Security is to be used as a mere carrot, in order to pass amnesty legislation. Legislation that failed in 1986 in it's proposed goals (remember?) is to repeated in 2007? To repeat an action that did not gain us the results we wanted before, thinking that this time it will be different... Well Sir, this is the height of insanity.

Yet you appear to "buy into" President Bush's carrot approach, despite the overwhelming public disapproval of such actions.

Our National Security demands that we secure the borders first and foremost. Once that is achieved, we can debate on the problem of unlawful immigration and those who have broken this countries laws.

As an admirer of yours, I call upon you to change your stance upon this ill-conceived plan. Secure this countries borders first. Immigration reform can be had later, when our nation is once again secure from the threat of terrorist attacks.

1. No amnesty or programs that will give an illegal alien now in the U.S. any legal status.

2. A web based program or phone in system that will allow employers to very a aliens legal status or a SSN in minutes. Much like a background check for purchasing a firearm. That way the employer has instant feedback on the status. If they still chose to hire them if they are illegal increase the fines and penalties and maybe even some jail time for those responsible.

3. The border must be secured before any guest worker programs are even considered.

REAL ID Under Fire
The REAL ID Act of 2005, passed with bipartisan support, implemented one of the 9/11 Commission's key recommendations. It requires national standards for driver's licenses and requires that any identity card used for a federal purpose—such as passing through a Transportation Security Administration security checkpoint before boarding a plane—be issued only to individuals who are lawfully present in the United States. The law does not create a “national ID card,” nor does it give the federal government more access to personal information on U.S. citizens. What the law does do is prompt states to adopt the best practices to provide better information protection and to combat identity theft, fraud, and counterfeit trafficking in identity documents. Measures in the Senate's immigration reform bill even acknowledge that the REAL ID requirements are vital to restoring the credibility of identity cards and the “breeder documents” (like birth certificates) that are used to obtain them.

Nonetheless, Senators Max Baucus (D-MT) and Jon Tester (D-MT) have proposed an amendment (No. 1236) that would:

Remove REAL ID requirements from Title III, the workplace enforcement provisions of the Senate's immigration bill; and

De-authorize a grant program created to help states become compliant with REAL ID.
When Congress passed REAL ID, it acted to improve the integrity of identification materials, a move that would bring broad benefits across the national security spectrum. Eliminating REAL ID requirements now, in the midst of a national debate on strengthening border security and immigration law enforcement, makes no sense

DEFINITELY give these 2 bums a call!!!

Whoa! Wait a minute before you go slinging names and mud!

The two Montana Senators are doing what the Montana Legislature wants (The NT Legislature voted to not participate in the Real ID act and called upon its Senators and Representatives to work for repeal of the law). You have a problem with those two actually representing their State? Take it up with the MT legislature!

Idaho has passed the same legislation and to-date, none of our congressional reps have done a thing. :(

Yeah!
I've got a problem(apparantly so does Heritage.com) with ANYBODY that would try to hinder implementation of a commonsense plan that would enhance personal and national security.
So I'll add the Montana Legislature to the list of bums that need a wakeup call also.
What possible reasons could they have for not wanting REAL ID?
It's no more intrusive than our present drivers lic.!

(Beautiful state Montana!. Gonna take the family there oneday.)

While arguably, our State-issued drivers licenses and ID cards are a defacto national ID, they are not controlled by the Feds as to what information is encoded on them.

Real ID is a dejure Federal ID. Just about every detail on your license will be (is) mandated by the Feds. How it looks and what information it will contain. You will not be able to get on a commercial airlines without one. You will not be able to enter a Federal building without one. You will not be able to hold a job, without one. You will not be able to receive any Federal benefits (VA benefits; SS benefits... anything the Feds are funding in your State), without one. You can not get a bank account, let alone a loan without one.

While the Real ID Act allows for funding, so the States can make the conversion, so far nothing has been funded. But it is still mandated. And... The AG can change the requirements of what data is to be included at its whim.

The data can reside on the card itself (as a machine readable 3D pictograph) or it may just be a bar code linked to a Federal database (and these are very secure, yes?). This means that anyone can get your info at will. But this is supposed to "secure" our identities?

If Idaho were to comply with the Real ID Act of 2005 the startup costs will be in the range of $39 million with ongoing costs of about $9.3 million per year (From the fiscal summary on HJM003). With just over a million residents, do you understand how much this will cost us, in new taxes and increased user fees?

You may be for that, but I'm not. I agree with those States that have withdrawn from participation.

Sorry dude, this is a back door to "papers, please!" by the Feds.

.
And the problem with that is what?
You can't do any of these things w/o presenting photo ID now.
What sort of info are you worried about being on the card that can't already be accessed by someone with your SS#?

The problem?

The problem is that real ID will create a false sense of security and a market for false Real IDs. There is a big market for false immigration documents right now. The problem with real ID is that it will disenfranchise people without providing the security it promises. The Government will have all your info stored in one place...

Oops..government agencies are losing personal data left and right.

Back to the immigration debate....

Do you feel like the apocalypse is coming when you see Trent Lott and Dianne Feinstein working with each other. Conservative talk radio sure has pounded on Trent Lott.

Lott is complaining that because of the talk radio hosts, their phone lines are overwhelmed with angry constituents calling all the time. That people shouldn't call so much.

I think he is Not Getting It. What's it going to take, an angry mob physically throwing him out of his seat and down the Capitol steps?

As you are aware, I sent an email to both of my Senators (post #5), Larry Craig and Mike Crapo. Here is a reply from Senator Crapo, that I received this morning:
June 25, 2007

Mr. Allen Norris
405 Linden St
Rupert, Idaho 83350-1743

Dear Allen:

Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to the
immigration reform and border security legislation considered by the
United States Senate. I agree with you and welcome the opportunity to
respond.

Rarely does an issue invoke more interest from so many Idahoans and
people across the nation than the issue of immigration reform and border
security.

The system we have needs to be fixed, and I was encouraged by initial
reports of the border security and immigration reform agreement that
included a number of positive steps. However, the proposed solution was
flawed. Although the bill contained some very good provisions,
particularly in terms of border control, it would have created a
separate category providing permanent legal residency for the millions
of individuals who have entered the country illegally. I continue to
believe a person should not gain an advantage or benefit toward
citizenship or legal permanent resident status as a result of illegal
entry into the U.S. This only encourages further illegal immigration.
There were other flaws with the legislation. For example, the permanent
legal residency for the approximate twelve million illegal immigrants in
the United States would have been granted prior to ensuring that our
nation's borders were secure. Further, it failed to address the
healthcare costs and tax ramifications of those legalized through the
bill, provided legalization before background checks were completed, and
had a low burden of proof for legalization, among other flaws.

Unfortunately, these concerns were not properly addressed in the
legislation, nor through the amendment process. Therefore, I could not
support movement of the legislation through the Senate. That is why I
voted against proceeding to a final vote on the adoption of this flawed
legislation. The motions to cut off debate and proceed to a vote on the
measure failed three times in getting the 60 votes needed to proceed.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) then withdrew the bill from
consideration, effectively ending the immigration debate for the time
being.

I remain committed to the enactment of sound immigration policy. I
understand the urgency expressed by many to enact a federal response to
address our nation's immigration and border security needs. However,
realizing the significant impact of legislation of this magnitude, I
will continue to press for not just a temporary fix, but a solid
solution that will secure our nation's borders, not provide incentives
for further illegal immigration through rewarding illegal entry, provide
Americans with the first right to access available jobs, and enable an
efficient and workable guest worker program.

Please rest assured that, as debate over this legislation resumes, I
will continue to work with President Bush, my colleagues in Congress and
all Idahoans to find sensible solutions to the challenges we face with
regard to immigration.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please feel free to contact me in
the future on this or other matters of interest to you. For more
information about the issues before the U.S. Senate as well as news
releases, photos, and other items of interest, please visit my Senate
website, crapo.senate.gov.

Sincerely,

Mike Crapo
United States Senator
Observations:

The above is a form-letter reply (Duh!). It was constructed to address the debate over the previous bill (S. 1348) and not the current proposal (S. 1639). This tells me he (his office staff, natch) really hasn't switched gears yet.

Since Crapo doesn't know my feelings about Pres. Bush, he is not going to alienate my vote, by repudiating Bush (Note: most Idahoans still think Bush is doing a good job). Hence the reference to "continue to work with" the President in the next to last paragraph.

The fact that he responded (even with an outdated form letter) so quickly, tells me that he is concerned that I know his opinion on the issue at large.

Senator Craig, on the other hand, rarely responds, and then only after a matter of days - sometimes weeks - have passed.
