IMNSHO this is the election that will direct us toward a more thoroughgoing fascist government dominated by well-vested business interests, radical environmetalists, and transnational gangsters and thugs OR toward a reduced rate of decline. Get me straight, Bush is no prize. He represents a less malignant form of statism than does Gore, but a malignant form nonetheless.
Over the last 6 months I've changed my thinking. Two books were instrumental in the change. First, long term government conspiracies are possible. Doubt me? Read "Day of Deceit" by Robert B. Stinnett. Based on FOI filing to the federal govt. the author convincingly demonstrates Roosevelt provoked the attack on Pearl Harbor. The received history of the attack being a complete surprise is demonstrated wrong because primary documentation shows active knowledge of and participation in Japan's attack. The deceit executed by FDR is on par with the skill of Bill Clinton.
Second, David Shippers "Sellout" details the behind the scenes conversations of House and Senate members during Clinton's impeachment. I was made physically sick reading that book. The baldfaced hypocracy of the republicans was breath-taking.
No, this year is the year of change for me. I will vote and vote for Bush and the Republicans. The republic is in triage. Something must be done now to save it from a decent into fascism. But I will work to erect a new party, the Libertarians. Democrats are. . . . , well they are democrats. The Republicans do not deserve to rule. They are morally unacceptable to claim the right to be called leaders. They exhibited no moral courage, and in fact struck me as people under blackmail. Either that or they are truly no different than the other party.
Neither party represents me. The moral corruption I see is disturbing and I see neither party with the spine to fix it.
I'm a November 9th libertarian.
