The "Dirty Dozen"; the 12 that Voted to Revoke the BSA Charter

Before the clue bat is unholstered, these same people also have anti-gun records. The lone Republican said it was "a mistake". I don't buy it because of GOA's "F" rating - a birds of a feather type of thing. Ratings are from GOA.

If you live in these folks districts, why not drop 'em a line? Maybe your Democrat neighbor/co-worker might not get upset over the "F" in gun rights, but the Scouts might be a flash-point. You might tell 'em about the vote also. Your newspaper might be interested also. If not, why not post this on their Forum? Sometimes 5 minutes of your time can pay big dividends.

The "Dirty Dozen"; the 12 that Voted to Revoke the BSA Charter

Here are the "Dirty Dozen", the 12 anti-american, anti-male, congressional representatives that voted AGAINST the Boy Scouts of America, and attempted to revoke their federal charter because of the Supreme Court ruling. Write to them, call them, and tell them how you feel about their vote. Check out their web-sites, one is a hispanic-feminist from California, two others are black females, one is a black activist from Florida, and Lynn Woolsey is a white feminist from California, and the others represent very liberal south Florida or southern California.

I live in Georgia 4th Congressional district, Cynthia McKinney's district.

I had the pleasure to meet and speak to McKinney's opponent twice in the last two weeks. Her name is Sunny Warren. She is a former MARINE, small business owner, married to a Navy Veteran, and she is a supporter of the entire bill of rights. This is a very determined lady in a close race and our friend! She deserves our support and help!

Yes, please help us elect Sunny Warren and eject Cynthia McKinney. Cynthia is somewhere to the left of Castro, whom she has helped by harvesting sugar cane in the fields on her summer vacation. I wish I were making that up, but it's true!!

I went to bed one night 6-8 years ago (can't remember when the election was after the '90 census redistricting and then the election after the de-gerrymandering). I fell asleep represented by Newt Gingrich, and awoke (not) represented by Cynthia. No one has ever experienced a greater right-to-left swing in political representation in such a short period, than those of us who lived in northern DeKalb County Georgia at that time.

You can help Sunny by volunteering at: http://www.sunnywarren.org/volunteerform.html

and, as always, contributions are welcome. You can contribute here: http://www.sunnywarren.org/contribution.htm

Heck, I sent her $20 and I'm in Nevada. Unlike a lot of pol's contribution forms, the secure credit card donation amount is blank, which means you can charge as little as you want. Read her Position Statement (needs a little tweaking ;) - she sounds like someone we all should support.

Position Statement

Gun Control

I firmly believe in the intent of our founding fathers as they wrote in the 2nd Amendment, that as law-abiding citizens we have the right to keep and bear arms. More restrictive gun laws will only serve to punish our honest, law-abiding citizenry and threaten their constitutional liberties. I support active enforcement of the many laws we already have; punish the criminal, not the honest citizen.

I believe that we can maintain our 2nd Amendment right in coexistence with our right to live a life safe from terror and violence. We need to keep guns out of the hands of children. I believe that we should explore common sense steps to make guns safer, so that tragedies are not as likely to happen.

As a little girl growing up with two sisters in the 1950’s, I played with dolls, jumped rope, rode a bicycle and played
“cowgirl”. My father grew up in the rural south, hunting and enjoying wild game. As an adult he continued to hunt, which meant that I grew up in a household with guns.

The thought never crossed my mind to take my father’s guns for any purpose. In fact, to this day I still don’t know where he kept them.

Neither access nor exposure to guns cause the tragic violence we see today. The first recorded act of violence occurred when Cain killed his brother Abel. The club used in the murder wasn’t the cause, nor was any organization or society at large. The real culprit then, as it continues to be now, is the evil in men’s hearts. Only when we decide to be honest with ourselves and decide to get serious about addressing the root of our problems will we begin to see a real change.

The hue and cry we hear after a tragedy like the Columbine shooting, or the little first grade girl in Michigan, usually demands that we pass even more gun legislation. This is intellectually lazy, and gives the impression, especially for politicians, of doing something to solve the problem.

More legislation does not solve the problem; you can’t legislate morality or the evil which lurks in some men’s hearts. The little girl in Michigan was killed with a stolen handgun which was left, loaded, within easy reach of children.

Laws were broken. The perpetrators of the Columbine massacre violated over a dozen existing laws. More laws would not have prevented these tragedies; enforcement of the laws already on the books may have.

Specifically, I support:
(1) Vigorous enforcement of existing gun laws. Additional legislation is useless without enforcement. By enforcing current laws, we punish the criminal, not the honest citizen.

(2) Common sense gun safety to protect our children, such as gun locks.

(3) Protecting our Constitutional right under the 2nd Amendment.
