The death of the 12 gauge Magnum!

When will companies kill off the 12 gauge magnum and only produce super magnums?

If they did this it would extremly lower their production costs.

I say, hurry up and kill the dang thing.

Maybe someday 12 gauge magnums will only exist in museums or the archives of history.

Well there you go. Opinions are like well... you know, everyone has one. The way I see it it's the 3 1/2" super magnum that needs to go.

I am not even happy with the Super Magnums. They need to hurry up and put into production the 12 gauge Ultimate magnum with 5.5" shells. The 5.5 shell holds 28 OO Buck pellets and 62 #4 buck pellets.

Rumor has it that it looks just like the old M79 blooper. Except it has a synthetic stock and better sights.

I think I will buy at least 2 of these.

I own 7 shotguns and all are 2 3/4" 12 gauges. The birds I knock down seem just as dead to me, but what do I know not being a smart kid who only knows what's been in vogue the last ten years or so? :D

woah woah woah! let the people like me shoot my 12 gauge 3/12s and i wont say nuthing about you shooting a 20. i mean to each his own if i can shoot my 12 gauge then yall shouldnt be able to shoot 20.

That's for people who can't make up their minds what size to use for HD???

I am an old man that has been shooting and hunting for well over 50 years. I have never felt that I needed 3" or longer ammo. In fact, I started my shooting hobby with a 20 gauge after a short courtship with the 410. The another very short courtship with the 16 gauge. Since all my friends had graduated to a 12 gauge, I bought a safe full of 12 gauges over the next several decades.

In the mid-1990s, American Arms had Franchi make them up a special order of Model 48s with special trim and deluxe coating. They called it the Black Magic. I bought one in 20 gauge. That gun has been my favorite go to gun ever since. It fits me good, thus little felt recoil. I honestly can't tell the difference between it and the 2 3/4" 12 gauge in effectiveness in the field. It is very light, less than 6 lbs. Since then I have been a 20 gauge fan.

If it comes down to the opint where the "guvment" will only allow ownership of one gun, I will take the Black Magic or one of the other 20 gauge 48s. The Black Magic fits me like a glove. Unfortunately, American Arms priced it much too high and they didn't sell very well. They haven't been available new in over 12 years. It is the same gun as the 48 with deluxe finish and, to me, a much better fit.

I am not sure if I have fired a 3 inch shell aside from .410 3 inch.
Upon first readint the title of the thread I thought dave wanted to see the 3.5 fall to the wayside...

Might be time to bring back the 10 gauge's. My dad had one. But they stopped making them I guess. So how bout a super magnum in a 10 gauge.

I actually have a 8 gauge muzzleloader and since it is a muzzleloader, you can make the "chamber" as loooooooong as you want to.:D

A two ounce load is brutal out of this 7 pound six ounce gun.

Clemson University has a cannon they fire at foolball games that uses 8 gauge blank shells. I don't know where they get the hulls but the cannon guy loads them for the football games. It is loud! In fact it is so loud that they now make him stand at the end of the field away from where the team will score. This followed an incident where Clemson scored and the ref was near the cannon when it was fired. The ref almost had to go in and change pants so he could call the rest of the game.
