Yesterday, my wife and I had the day off. The kids were with the grand and great grandparents, and she and I toured about. While we were out, I came across a couple of gun stores that are new to me. K&L Exchange in Brighton, TN and DGC custom gunsmithing in Covington, TN ( www.dgccustomgunsmithing.com ). The DGC guy grew up in a gun shop and now has his own CNC shop where he builds 1911s. And (if he reads this) I hope I don't make him feel old by saying he sold me my first long gun at 51Gun.
K&L exchange has the most resonable ammo prices in three or four counties. (And a Fender Telecaster that I am still drooling over)
TFL'ers in southwest TN look these folks up.
This is not a plug for either place. Just me running my trap.
In other news, my 8yo used night sights for the first time. He and I shared my ammo find with my dad on his private range (aka the backyard ) tested our low light shooting skills. We shot at five gallon bucket lids at distances between 3-10 yards. I think we all learned something this evening and that is the importance of being able to see and hit a target in low light conditions and the value of glow-in-the-dark sights and an artificial light scource. We used a small LED (read cheapo pocket type) flashlight for s****&giggles's. Dad and I both reconfirmed our suspicions about muzzle flash and night-blindness.
In praise of the youngest member of our makeshift team, he has developed a very good "range sense" and understands very well what the commands MUZZLE! and FINGER! mean and he now better undrstands the three dot sight. I hope he keeps his interest in firearms and fierarms saftey and I hope he helps me instill the same knowledge in his younger brother. I vote and pray that this will be a right which they will be able to exercise after their ol' man is gone.
Off my soapbox now
