The CIA is a heavy little sucker

I, too, checked out the Taurus CIA's. Wow, what an out-of-the-box trigger they have! I have a Taurus mod 605 .357 mag which I will occasionally lug around in an Uncle Mike's size 3 pocket holster but not 24/7. Your CIA is merely the Mod 605 with an enclosed hammer and probably weighs in the neighborhood of 23-24 oz.......a real load to flop around in the pocket all day.

I have tried IWB and just simply DO NOT LIKE IT, any way, shape, or form. If I didn't want to carry in the pocket or IWB, I'd probably opt for a snug-fitting belt holster and wear my shirttails out or some such thing.

Apologies to all...hit the WRONG button!

This was meant for the above post as a reply, not a new post.
Sorry 'bout that.

Can be lighter

The CIA is available in Titanium as well -- at about 14 oz. I believe. I have the 85 multi-alloy "Police" that weights only 13.7 oz. It is just like the CIA (in .38) but with a concealed hammer instead of hammerless.

I saw this post...

and figured it was in response to my post.
I had only a certain amount to work with, that's why I went with the CIA...and it is heavier, but weight isn't a huge issue with me. (As long as its not TOO much.)
I just wanted the smaller width and length than the SP 101 that I had.
And then I pulled the trigger on my CIA and fell in love!
Maybe try SmartCarry and return if it doesn't work well.

If my dealer can finally locate an 850 Titanium CIA, I'm going to get it and will let everyone know how it is. I looked at the 650 but just too heavy (for me anyway) for comfortable carry.

I have a CIA in .38 and I have been very pleased. It shoots point of aim at 7 yards, with very good accuracy. The trigger is long but smooth and after 1,000 rounds I have had no problems. I personally do not find the weight to be a problem, but I carry it in an ankle holster exclusively. Personally, I like the added weight because its dulls the recoil of the SXT +Ps I use as my defensive load.

My only complaint is the sights. I am seriously considering getting a tritium dot installed, as it can be difficult to find the silver front blade between the smallish rear notches.

tag,
I agree about the sights on the CIA...I just painted my front sight black...easier acquisition than the silver. The front sight is not removable and will take some smithing to get a tritium unit installed...its worth it though. shoot well
