The Census just called......

I just got a nice call from a census lady.

You see, I hadn't filled out my form and sent it in like a good sheeple. A census taker had stopped by one day and the wife taked to her. For every question asked, the answer my wife gave her was "2 adults and one child reside here."

This nice lady on the phone tonight explained all the confidentiallity measures and how important it was.

I informed her that my reading of the Constitution states that they just needed to know that 3 people lived here. AND what with 900+ FBI files showing up in the White House. The IRS being used for political purposes. And numerous other agencies inflicted on people who don't agree with the government, my trust level of the Feds is not real high. Anything else I can help you with?

And all done in a real pleasant tone of voice too. My wife was proud of me! :)

Don't forget that Census files were used to identify and round-up Americans of Japanese ethnic origin, and then send them off to the concentration camps during WW2.

Government and honesty; Federal and truth are mutually exclusive terms

don't forget that names have been written down since 1790. essentially the hispanic and the race question are the only things different than what was done in 1790.

Just proves that there were sheeple in 1790 too . . . . . .

FWIW
The 1790-1840 is a head of household census all others were just marked in age groups by gender. Not sure when they started it but there were slave scedules also, race black-white was recorded
1850 to present had all names, race (b-w again hispanics and oriental were considered white). Age on earlier month and year of birth on later census, they also asked your ocupation ,or if kids were they in school, renter owner, literate or not, # of surviving children. and 1850-1880 net worth/value of property.
From my family research the gov wasnt trusted much back then either there are some pretty wild answers. (maybe it was due to them being Rebs, most are during and after the war) :)

As someone who is interested in family history and does genealogical research, I find the census data useful because it contains names of people living in various households -- important sometimes when you're trying to determine who is related to whom with the same last name. I can't see any legitimate reson why the government needs more than the number and names of the people living at a household.

Kinda scary that even the short form now asks specifically if the person is of Hispanic/Latin descent.
