The Bradys being idiots on t.v. right now

Sarah and Jim Brady are on some late-night CBS show I'm watching right now (I tuned in during the middle).

They're talking mostly about John Hinckley Jr. being allowed out, supposedly medicated and "safe-to-society," and the host is asking them how they feel about it.

You know what Sarah said? "What can WE do about it?"

What can we do about it.

She didn't say, "We're going to lead a crusade against people who shoot at others, and make sure they stay locked up until they die in prison."

She said there's nothing they can do about someone like Hinckley being allowed out after devastating numerous lives.

Why, then, does she feel so empowered to be able to push government to ban guns?

Moron.

Oh, now they just showed a promo spot for another spot, "If you were the victim of a violent attack, do you think you could forgive your attacker? You'll meet a woman who was attacked, and see a story of blah, blah, blah and forgiveness."

Are these CBS idiots trying to actually manipulate the public into being sympathetic to the idea of just FORGIVING violent criminals, as if that makes everything okay?!

Why is FORGIVENESS the buzzword now? What about PUNISHMENT?

The only question I want to hear is, "Azurefly, if you were the victim of a violent attack, do you think you could KILL your attacker?"

And my answer is, "YES."

"If you were the victim of a violent attack, do you think you could forgive your attacker? You'll meet a woman who was attacked, and see a story of blah, blah, blah and forgiveness."

Forgiveness is often used as a means to sugarcoat one's own unwillingness to stand up and fight back.

I say, if someone tries to kill ya, you just go on and try to kill 'em right back! Don't take that kind of crap from people.

Turn the other cheek? Sounds great on thin paper with small print. Doesn't sound that great to me in reality.

Turning the other cheek is an 'ideal'. In reality, it will just get you a second bruise....

Turning the other cheek was meant to deal with insults and harassment. The threat of physical violence beyond such an insult was dealt with by the instruction in Luke that if you didn't have a weapon, to sell something and buy one.

to me, "turn the other cheek" means to not respond back in kind.
To be reasonable with the unreasonable, polite to the impolite. You get the idea. The only way I've found to be happy in an unjust world and maintain that "inner peace".
The only exception is when someone is going to try to shoot at me, you bet I'll shoot back!:D

Sarah Brady, like so many others, seems to blame the gun and not the nutcase that used it. Much easier intellectually to vent your anger, hurt and pain at an inanimate object. It's much harder to blame a human being, to admit that evil exists, that people can be rotten to the core.
Had she directed her efforts at punishment of criminals, locking up repeat offender dirtbags for life, sentences that fit the crime, victim's rights, and the like, our country might be better off.
