The best warm up gun for snubbies, or any other guns.

At least for me!

This gun has paid for it self many times over, and has made me a better shooter at "Handgun range's (5-15yrd)".

It saves me money, and I don't have break the bank spending money on that now expensive SD/target ammo.

First it's not a revolver, it's the Beretta Bobcat 21A. A 22lr Semi, 12 oz, 7 shot mouse gun with a 2.5" barrel, and it seems to almost show zero sight's, which is very hard to line up for a proper aim, good, bad, or indifferent.

I know you hear a lot of people say get a Ruger Mk II, or III with a 5" or a 7" barrel. But those gun are like almost cheating, and are easy to get tight groups even beyond 15yrds. What's the point of that? To show off how good you shoot on a gun that is so easy?

That's my point, the Beretta 21A 22lr is hard, and once you master it, at least to 10-15 yards, the snubbies and other guns seem so easy to shoot at "handgun range's (5-15yrds)", which gives me gratification and justification, while saving me a whole lot of money.

Although the gun is known as a jam-o-matic, it also helps you practice to free the jams.

Both my 21A's were great for malfunction drills, especially after 50 rounds or so and they got dirty.

I practice with what I use, so its a little more realistic. Comparing a 21A to an Airweight 38 snubbie, isnt very realistic. Even using light target loads in the 38's isnt, either way. I reload, so I can duplicate the factory ammo power pretty closely, and its really not expensive, especially since about 50 rounds is all my hand can take at an outing. :)

I have not cleaned my 21A yet at around 1500 rounds sense new, and it seem to be getting more reliable. In fact, the last time I shot it with some Winchester 333 rounds pac hallow points, I shot about 200 rounds with one stove pipe and one misfire.

Realistic?

Shooting that little Beretta is much harder to shoot than my carry gun, a S&W 638 Airweight .38 snubby. If you can get good groups with the 21A, you can get great groups with a snubbie revolver.

Like I said, it's a warm up gun, "I still practice with my carry snubby" after, but it so nice to start with that 22 to save money.

I know its a SA after the first shot, but it's still harder to shoot than the snubby using DA.

I'm just glad I bought this little cool gun. She's a keeper for sure!:D

Both my 21A's would start to balk at the first signs of being dirty, usually no more than a box or two. They also preferred the hotter Stingers and Mini Mags. If you got one that works, I'm happy for you. I wish mine did. Other than the aggravation part, I did like them. I never found them hard to shoot with.

I still dont think you can realistically compare a .22 to an Airweight .38 shooting hot ammo. They are two totally different critters. A closer comparison would be practicing with the Airweight in .38, then switching to one in 357MAG. Naaa, never mind, my hand just started to ache thinking about it. :)

I didn't know I was comparing the two guns!

My point mainly, is the Beretta 21A is a great practice gun.

Elvis: You are a lucky guy. I gave the 21A that I had away. I was never able to fire more than two magazines without a malfunction. Must've tried at least a dozen types of ammo. I really wanted that gun to work but it didn't.
Good that yours does.
I ended up with a S&W 317 Airlite.

Interesting concept....make your initial practice difficult so that your further practice becomes much easier.....next thing you know, people will be jogging with weights around their ankles or something....

Good thoughts. Thanks....
