The best non-factory mag?

It depends on the pistol, some are more finicky than others. My buddy's Ruger P89 chugs right along with USA mags while the same brand jams a P228. Some have had good luck with ProMag while others swear at them. Of all I've heard, and vere have had a negative personal experience, with MecGar mags. Finding after market mags that work is like going on a blind date, you might meet Ms America or Quasimodo's sister, it's all luck.

So many pistols, so little money.

I've had good luck with Metalform and MecGar mags in my .45ACPs. I have heard extremely positive comments about Wilson's mags for the .45. Seems to me one can buy a lemon from most any manufacturer, but I surely hear a lot of negative comments about ProMag and USA mags.
:D

Wilson Combat mags are great for 1911's. McCormick mags aren't too bad either for the price. It really depends on your gun.

I suggest that you borrow weveral different makes of magazines and try they at the range. Each pistol is different in what magazines it "likes." I have had great luck with Shooting stars, poorer luck with MecGars and no luck at all with Wilson magazines in my 1911's. I know other shooters that have not had any problems with either MecGars or Wilsons and nothing but problems with Shooting Stars. Magaines are something you have to test to find which works best for your pistol.

other than 1911 style pistols (no experience), I'd recommend MecGar mags if available. They are OEM for many manufacturers. I've had good luck with Promags in my Hi-Powers, so far.

Mec-Gar mags makes mags for most of the worlds manufacturers. In a 1911 there is nothing better than Wilson but Chip Mcormicks are good too. In a Glock nothing but factory mags and never use a steel mag in a Glock, it ruins the mag catch.

I have not had much luck with Mec-Gar in my Beretta 92FS. However I use USA mags in both my Beretta nad in my AR15 and they have been trouble free. This however can vary from gun to gun. It is my opinion that 1911's are the most sensitive to mags. Any arguements about that?

My 1911 came with 2 MecGar mags.I tried the Shooting star mags with no success.Tried the Wilsons at a gun show but couldnt get one to lock in.Tried a buddies at the gunrange and it worked fine???I have had no trouble with the MecGars.

I purchased a couple of 15 round ProMag's for my Ruger a while back and I never have been able to make them work. One of them won't even accept the full 15 round capacity. On the other hand the two USA magazines I have for the same pistol work perfectly and have never jammed....go figure?!?!?!
