What are the top notch buffer springs for AR-15s? A friend told me that Tubb springs are among the best. What are your favorite buffer springs?

Short answer, for me, JP tuned and polished. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1069416858

Have had several springs in several rifles over the years. Colt, psa, cmmg, jp, springco, unknown brands, geissele super 42.

Never had a problem out of any them, they all ran their respective rifles just fine.

Personally, the JP has been the smoothest and quietest. Its what i have in my main rifles. And what i keep as spares to replace any worn out springs going forward.

Heard amazing things about the JP silent capture system. Never had the opportunity to try one. They are a touch expense imho. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/101762705

I've used a bunch in my own rifles and in customer's builds. FWIW, I sold the JP SCS systems I had.

I use the JP tuned and Polished in both AR15 pattern and AR10 pattern. I just think JP does a better job than the Tubb version.

Glad to hear you also have a good experience with JP tuned and polished springs.

Lots of great suggestions... and while we all know "best" is subjective.

I would like to note, a smooth interior buffer tube also matters.

Maybe not in the function arena.. but if someone dislikes the twang noise, then make sure your buffer tube is smooth and lubed.

Lubed makes more of a difference that most people realize. I prefer a gun grease, lucas extreme duty, lightly applied to the inside of the tube and outside of the spring. makes a big difference in my experience.

Excellent advice.

It makes a lot of sense to lube the inside of the buffer tube. I wonder if any company is coating the inside of the buffer tube the same way they coat the BCG and other components.

I just run BCM springs. Mil-Spec, and they just work. They also don't rust. I run BCM H1 buffers in all my ARs also.
