The Bank of Boulder

Is the Bank of Boulder still doing the program where you can buy a Certificate of Deposit and get a firearm, safe, bow, or other sporting-related implement, and get all your money back later? I've tried to call them and search for them in the WWW, but to no avail. What's up?

The old president of the Bank of Boulder retired several years ago. When I was with NRA I wrote an article about their program, met him and his son. Very nice people.

Since that time the Bank has:

A) changed its name to The Bank In Boulder.

B) expanded from 1 bank location to a chain (Colorado banking law makes, or used to make, it really hard for banks to be chains there).

C) dropped the firearms program (I just called them).

D) apparently become a bastion of politically correct, Democratic Party thinking.

Here's their URL, if you still want it, even though I don't know why...

Well, I guess that's what happens when the only person with brain to call his own leaves the company. Oh, well. I wish him all the best in his retirement.

And may the other politically correct bozos become unemployed and penniless, or may their armpits become infested with the fleas of all the cute little animals they've saved. Ugh!

I read an article in a 1981-1982 Guns and Ammo about that. You didn't write it did you? I thought it was a great idea, but figured it was not happening in this day and age. I guess I was right.

BTW I picked up a big box full of early 80's G&A's and American rifleman at a flea market. They are a very interesting read since I am 21 and was not paying attention to gun issues when I was 3.

Kilgor,

No, I never worked for G&A, only American Rifleman, from October 1990 to April 1994.

My last article, which I finished literally 2 days before I was laid off, was published in August 1994.

I'm confused . I heard from a guy I met at the Airport , his name was Ramsey , that Boulder had the best Police Department that money could buy . Go figure .

It seems to me that "buying" police aren't what police departments are for... ;)
