The assinine search for non-lethal wepaons continues.....

For those of you not keeping up on these things, the Liberals have never ceased to look for new ways to make guns and weapons non-lethal. Its a stupid exercise, since there's really only a few instances that even the Police need non-lethal alternatives and Pepper Spray, tear gas and other irritants fit the bill pretty well. If your ever in a situation where you have to shoot a projectile at someone, it better kill them or have the ability to kill them (deadly force, in other words).

On a positive note, it sounds like technology that could be used to make ultra-accurate and more size efficient ammo.

On a negative note,

If it ever catches on and is widly accepted, We could see the prices of firearms and ammo skyrocket due to the complexity and cost to produce them. Remember when Unleaded gas first came out? It was OK because you could still buy the Leaded version for your old car. Now try to find unleaded gas. It would be an easy step for the GOV to say " We are implimenting a phase-out/ban of old style Cartridges that use gunpower" To the point of making the older style weapons that use gunpowder obsolete and useless.

Try stock piling a few thousand rounds when the old cartridges are no longer imported or produced. It would cost a fortune.

How do you reload when the powder is no longer available.

And of course all the new guns would be Post-Ban.

Just a thought on the dark side.

Anythings possible, but with thousands of people and hundreds of governments tinkering with firearms for several centuries now, nobody has really found a practical replacement to gunpowder. We essentially launch projectiles in much the same way we did 100 yrs ago. I doubt this development will change anything substantially.

What the hell are they thinking... non-lethal force to guard nuclear installations? Some bastard tries to screw with a nuclear installations should be shot!

Okay, your propellent is based on "molten aluminum contact with water". Aluminum burns at somelike like 1300º or 1400º (if I remember right). What are going to use as a containment vessel for this hand-held weapon? Or what process do you use for "flash moltening" and handling the active material?

This would seem to be perhaps possible if used like the liquid-fueled artillery currently being developed, but seems rather inpractible as a personal weapon.
