The .400 Corbon

I was looking at getting something different as I have pretty much all the 'standard' calibers. If I understand this correctly, I can use .400 Corbon in my Sig 220 with just a barrel change? Basically any .45 caliber handgun just needs the barrel change? What about recoil springs? Any experience will be appreciated.
 
I gave up on it in a 1911 almost 20 years ago. Neat concept, but the design is lacking.

The neck is just way too short. It can't effectively hold the bullet in place. Chambering a round would often push the bullet back into the case, raising chamber pressure sometimes to unsafe levels.

Maybe some gun designs with a less abrupt feed ramp angle would fare better.

In the end I sold the barrel and bought a 10mm.
 
The .40 Super addressed the .400 Corbon's neck problems. Very similar cartridge, except loaded hotter.
