THANKS for the advice on Hi Powers!

I was interested in purchasing a HP clone and got advice here. Wound up with an Arcus 94 shortened version. On another thread someone had posted about the trigger feeling "gritty" because of the Mag disconnect, mine did too. I then emailed George Stringer (our resident gunsmith) to check proceedures and he set me straight. I took out the mag disconnect spring and WOW, what a difference. Smoothed the trigger action up and I think decreased the trigger pull dramatically. Thanks to you dedicated TFL'ers for the advice!:D I've only had it a couple of weeks and am wearing the barrel out with all the fun!

Is it doing well? I had a friend bring in an Arcus and he had lots of stovepipes with it.That is a nice looking gun though.

So Far so good

Tropical Z, so far I have no complaints. I got it from Aim Surplus for $219, they have the full sized for $209 when in stock. It took awhile to get out all the cosmoline, even in the mags, the first one jammed 3 shells. Never thought about cleaning the mags until then. I've run about 750 rounds through it since with no misfires. I've seen no evidence of stovepipes yet. I've been shooting .45 in IDPA and decided to try 9mm. At under 10 cents a pop I can afford to play alot. I had almost decided to save another few months and go for a Practical but couldn't wait when I saw the shortened version in Arcus for that price. It's not quite a "throw-away gun at that price but if it starts giving problems hopefully the money I'll save in ammo costs will give me what I need for the Browning. After taking the Mag safety out it has a small amount of slack in the trigger you have to take up before firing, other than that I'm pleased. I sure hope it holds up as well as the PA 63 we bought years ago. We haven't been able to kill it yet and it just keeps on ticking. I can't stand having a gun I can't trust to fire every time!

I have an Arcus 94, but it's not a short version. I have about 600 rounds through it without a problem yet. I also took out the magazine disconnect, and the trigger is now awesome.

I let my friend use it at our CCW class and he went through 200 rounds of problem free rapid fire shooting.

Great gun for the money.

It's calling your name. It's calling your name.

Why resist. Resistance is futile. Do it. Do it now.
