Thank you all!

I just wanted to say thank you all before I head off for the night. Sandy invited me here, telling me that I would be welcome even though I am not very educated about guns. She was right it appears. :D I do plan to bug all of you with questions, hope you don't mind! :)

Oh, and I did a search for the closest Eddie Eagle program. I did not find anything very close to me. Does anyone know if there is anything in the Central Illinois area? Also, what is the charge for this program?

Thanks again everyone! :D

We got the Eddie Eagle video at the library. You might look there. Also check out any gun stores, shooting ranges, etc that might have a copy to borrow.

Welcome aboard, LoriAnn. As you can see, we're most happy to have you stop by and get acquainted. Whether you ever actually get a gun is sort of irrelevant (and a personal decision that we all respect), though as a group, we're pretty partial to the shooting sports, self-defense, and RKBA (the right to keep and bear arms). We're pleased that you're willing to listen to both sides of the issue, and honored that you have chosen TFL. We're happy to help with all the questions you have, so 'fire awway' and don't be shy. Knowledge is power. M2

Oh, yes, to answer your question, if you can't find Eddie Eagle locally, go to teh NRA website www.nra.org, you can order from there.

hi Lori Ann--- I am always pleased to welcome
new people to the fire arms community. I only
know of two shooters in the Ill.area and here
is their email. They are Ill reps for the pro-
gun rally 2000 to be held in April 2000 at
as many state capitals as we can manage to organize.Last year we had two whole states
that bothered to stand up for their second ammendement rights, Conn and Nebraska. Ct
had a very sucessfull 200 person rally and
Nebraska has a very sucessfull 75 man rally.
Both rallies had tv coverage.I dont know what the matter was with the other 48 states, but
I sure hope they show up this year!
our web site is: http://www.xnet.com/~gizmonic/themarch.html

the email is:gizmonic@xnet.com

and choirboy@freepcmail.com-----you may have
to look up choirboy's email address at the
march web site as he changes his email address every couple of months(I cant keep up to him !)He is listed as a Illinois rally
leader on the web site.

My email is :
larrysdiscountguns@erols.com

Lori, sorry I posted replies and disappeared. Busy time for college students. The Champaign County Rifle Association could help you find an Eddie Eagle and other programs, no problem. http://www.gunssavelife.com
The Department of Natural Resources could help you find a hunter education course--this is NOT as good as Eddie Eagle but they do stress safety for kids who handle guns, meaning mostly hunting and plinking. Eddie Eagle is great for kids who can't touch guns but if you ever want to let your kids hunt he won't teach them to cross fences or walk in a line with guns safely.

Ernest2, the way I understand it the rally for Illinois won't be in Springfield but Chicago. When I emailed them about it, they asked me to organize the rally in Springfield. I asked them to get back to me with more info and still waiting till they know more. (Not that it matters, half the state thinks Chicago is the capitol anyway.)
