Thank God for Stupid Criminals

Bad story with a somewhat funny twist.

My favorite gun store, for whom I work from time to time to help support my "gun habit", got robbed Sunday night. Seems that two or three fellows in dire need of firearms tossed a big brick through a window, climbed over a steel grate, stole 4 or 5 rifles that were secured to the wall with wire rope, and climbed back out. Yes, that sucks out loud.

The thing is, they stole a bunch of Romak-991's (that's an AK variant that only takes a 10-round, single-stack magazine for those who don't recognize it) worth about $200 each. Sitting right next to those rifles on the rack was a Steyr AUG, a national match M1A with stainless barrel and synthetic stock, a Norinco bullpup in 7.62x39, and a Colt AR-15 in the LE-4 configuration (telescoping stock, flash suppressor, carbine-length barrel). Bottom line is that any one of the firearms these punks left sitting there was worth more than all the ones they stole put together.

I told the owner, a friend of mine, that if he knew he was going to be robbed and could have provided a list to the thieves, those rifles would have pretty much been it. Doesn't make it stink any less, but he did sort of catch a break.

Last summer some mofos broke into a local store and grabbed a few items...some handguns but mostly air guns and black powder pistols...

Most got caught within two weeks but the guns were not recovered...

Some brighter buggers had lifted 80+ high-end handguns from my fav store last month...hope they get caught

In my county, the Sheriff's arms storage building was broken into. They caught the guy, and it turns out he was responsible for other such breakins and thefts. Young guy too. Let's hope he stays where he is a long time.
