There’s an old cowboy saying, “There’s a lot of things they didn’t tell me
when I joined this outfit!”
Members of TFL can not say that truthfully.
Every TFL member has agreed to abide by the Forum Policies.
We, the Staff of TFL, have been lax in enforcing some of these policies. The
results have caused:
- additional workload and storage for the TFL server,
- increased access time to TFL threads for all members,
- additional workload for the TFL Staff, and
- most importantly and worst of all, a remarkable increase in arguments on
subjects UNrelated to the TFL mission, i.e.“... discussion and advancement
of responsible firearms ownership.”
Yes, my friends, that DOES include the General Discussion Forum and the
Suggestions, Questions and Feedback Forum as well as every other TFL
forum.
TFL is not a chat room for all of life’s concerns. Sorry, but this is simply more
than TFL can handle.
This problem is largely my fault - personally.
I asked Rich and the Staff to permit off-thread discussions to build
camaraderie among our members and thereby strengthen our RKBA
movement. Instead, such subjects as religion, abortion, alternative lifestyles,
sports, pets, clothing, and politics (unrelated to firearms/rights), etc. have
encouraged ad hominem attacks, divisive arguments, needless alienation
among members, and (sadly) members being banned.
Some members who have been banned are true supporters of our Right to
Keep and Bear Arms, but were banned for conduct in off-topic threads.
In other words, while some of us (I was involved) had fun with nonsense
such as “test” threads, other folks were fighting about subjects irrelevant to
“responsible firearms ownership”. Our RKBA effort has been strengthened in
some areas but unnecessarily weakened in others.
Overall, I believe we have suffered a net loss. Therefore, I must admit
the failure of my endeavor. TFL must return to our RKBA mission and
become less involved with the total spectrum of world controversy.
I ask all TFL members to read (or re-read) the Forum Policies. If problems or
questions remain, contact a Staff member by e-mail.
I solicit and anticipate your understanding, cooperation, and assistance.
Thank you.
