TFL owned airplane?

Better not. My wife already freaks that I store the reloading components in the apartment-- imagine her dismay at my stockpiling J-2 next to the keg of Unique? :)

Plus, can't we get a trainer model for check-outs? It's a single-seater!

L.P.

Plus, all the links of 30mm ammo will take up precious closet space and, man, you DO NOT want to mess with a woman's closet space. No sir. :D

If they're parting any of the planes out, I want the titanium "bathtub." I'll be the safest bather in town!

Going for the bargain basement price of $ 8,000,000 with very low flight times listed. Keep in mind that most modern jets are given about 4-6 hours of ground maintenance for every hour of flight time, so if we want to keep this bird in the air, we're going to need somebody with an A&P license and some spare time.

Certainly a good investment, however, since Janet Reno is sure to put these things on a BANNED list sooner or later (!).

Oh, you can skydive out of it, but only ONCE. ;)

Honestly, for 8mil, I'd rather buy an old P-51 and use the balance to put on the six M2s in working condition. Now that would be something at the next TFL meet!

Hmmm. Let's see. $8,000,000 divided by 5,000 members is $1,600 per member. I think I might be able to swing that.

Wait a minute! NO GO!

With MY luck, I'd have to fly with that danged Wookie! And he's Looney Tunes!

Include me OUT! ;)

The problem is we won't be able to stop with just one. Soon we'll discover that we need 2-4 air superiority type fighters to fly high cover, tanker support so we can go from the Orange County gunshow to National Gun Day in Louisville without stopping for fuel, at least one transport to move spares from airport to airport :)

By the time we're through our initial investment of $1600 per member will really grow.

Of course given some of the experience on the list, we might just end up with a more effective Air Force then the current defense department is producing :)

What about a drone with a video feed and auto-ordinace drop? It'll fit in the back of your van or pickup, and is very hard to detect on radar or visually while at altitude. Kinda quiet too.

Why spend $8mil on some Russian junkjet? It's much too big and expensive of a target for civilian "hobbiests". Moreover, when/if the SHTF, where are you going to get jet-A fuel in large quantities? Plus, you can't land that bad boy on most vehicular roadways. No doubt, most jet airports will be occupied by the bluebands.

Can't we just go for a few friendly A-4's? I've always been partial to the little guys...Another option might be to go for the ARES craft. Replacement parts probably easier to procure, and heck, we could build most of it in a garage!

Funny, Volky. ;)

Fact is, the initial cost ain't your worst nighmare. Maintenance is. As I got more time than money, I'll stick with my Baron.

If this is the same organization that was selling the ex-Sov sub last year, maybe we could get a quantity discount and get both

I'm waiting for them to sell a TU-144 Backfire, if you can't go supersonic, then you shouldn't be going at all!

------------------
I thought I'd seen it all, until a 22WMR spun a bunny 2 1/4 times in the air!

But seriously folks, does anyone here own an Ultralight? I'm thinking I might want to buy one in a few years.
What are they, a few grand?
Buzzing around the MN countryside at a leisurely pace sounds great!
However, I think I would try to rig up a car-muffler to that little engine.
All that noise could ruin the fun.
So? Let's hear about your little planes. -Kframe

Speakin' of Barons. I think there's one up here in middle GA that could be had for a little of nothin'. Seems the owner hasn't been to pick it up and it's just sittin there for the takin' ...? That right, Rich?

Seriously, how about one of these, or a newer model, or the newest model?
