Texas Whitetail Hunters: What are the essential components of your clothing for hunts?

I went on a whitetail hunt last season and only wore the following:

1. My tennis shoes

2. Two nested pairs of socks

3. Boxers

4. Jeans

5. Two hoodies

6. A shirt

7. Gloves

8. Beanie

It was not nearly enough.

What do the experts here have to say?
 
I just wear what the weather calls for. It can be 86 one day in November and 34 the next day, so pack accordingly.
 
Layering, to me is a must, which you did. Often the mornings are freezing give or take but by the afternoon it could be in the low 50’s (Hill Country mostly). I wear boots though.

Supposedly they say winter should be colder than usual.
 
As hot as it's been in PA lately, i'd be wearing..
Teeshirt
Shorts
Flip flops.

I can't immagine what Texas feels like!!
 
Lately? Don’t ask! It’s hot and some may well be wearing next to nothing! Might just be in boxers and tennis shoes (only because of the stickers).
 
For me, it was mostly old khakis and Russell "Bird Hunter" boots. An old GI field jacket and an old GI fatigue cap. T-shirt and sometimes thin quilted underwear when very cold.
 
Carhartt overalls, a pair of old Redwing lace-up work boots and, if it's cold, wool flannel, a Carhartt jacket and a watch cap. If it's warm, just a work shirt. I don't wear blue because I think deer see it the way we see bright orange. I'm anti camo and think it's mostly a fashion statement for a rifle hunter.
 
What part of tx? It’s a big state, and El Paso is different then Houston
In my experience with west tx would be base layer, winter jeans, long sleeve shirt, and Carhertt jacket, boots and wool socks
East tx might a lot different might need waterproof boots or something

Central Texas, near Marble Falls, and sometimes down near San Antonio.
 
I just "move in" to my primary deer house a few days before opening day. Extra clothes, heater, cooking pot, bottled water--everything except what I carry on me is already there.
 
Well after al,the rain we've had this fall the only thing you wear that matters is mosquito repellent. I went out dove hunting the other day and just about got carried away by them.
 
Light weight Gortex clothing is pretty good at keeping the cold at bay and can be stowed without a lot of bulk. Body Armor long underwear is light and not too obnoxious if it gets warm in the afternoon. If you're hunting on public land then bright orange gear is a must. On private land you can be a little more stealthy if you want.

That is why everyone here hunting in early season carries a ThermaCell.
 
Texas.... Cold..... Surely you jest. I lived in Texas 16 years, we some good ice storms in DFW but I have been in North Dakota for 20 years now. Its a whole different level of cold here.

Depends though are you walking or sitting in a stand? Oh silly me, all Texas deer hunting is from a stand at a feeder.
