Texas has changed CHL requirements

If you can now renew on-line, does that mean that you don't have to re-shoot the qualifying course of fire each time you renew?

How civilized. As far as I know, Texas is (was?) the ONLY state that required requalification with each renewal.

Good news for us CHL holders, but not so great news for CHL instructors. I know at least one who does a lot more revenue in renewals than new licenses.

Texas CHL

Yeah, also there is no designation for revolver/semi auto... Whatever you test with gets you the ok for both types of pistol.

Folks I know hope that marketing post-CHL tactical training will take off. I tell everyone I know that the CHL course isn't enough. Nor is going to your ranch and shooting a rock or two.

But you know people. Every man is an instinctive warrior.

I think that's wishful thinking, Glenn. I'm sure some will have interest, but it's hardly going to be a flood of folks looking to improve their skills. A trickle, at best I'm afraid.

Sadly, not everyone who is qualified to teach the CHL course is qualified to teach tactical training. Although I suspect that lack of demand will be a bigger problem than lack of qualified instructors.

time & $$$.....

About 2 years ago I was looking into the armed security requirements for MS.
I spoke to a staff member in the state office who explained the process.
At first I considered the system lax & not well regulated but after some thought, I could see the logic behind it. Less red tape and hassles saves $ and time.
