The Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, commonly referred to as CLEAT, has a long history of opposing gun-owners' rights in Texas, while seeking funding from those same people.
After years of poor funding efforts, CLEAT finally stopped opposing Texas' efforts to pass a CHL statute and ended its support for anti-gun bills. Apparently, CLEAT has reverted to its old ways.
A post on TexasCHLforum.com sets out CLEAT's current efforts in detail and is far too long to re-post here. If you are interested, please follow the link for more information.

Chas.
