Tell me about your Beretta Pico?

LGS has a barely used Beretta Pico for only $219. With an MSRP of $300 that seems like a good deal. I had a Nano and didn't like it. Too finicky on the ammo. Tell me about your experience with the Beretta Pico, especially if it is a more recent manufacture date. They apparently made some improvements after the initial offering.

Talk to me.
Thanks.

Okay so maybe I don't need you to talk to me.

Shooters:
Well I searched "Pico" on this forum and found a boat load of comments and reviews.

Would still love to hear from you but have learned a lot. May go ahead with the purchase and see how I like it.

Merry Christmas

Love my Pico. It has all the features I want in a pocket gun, mainly a hammer, good sights and a nice DAO trigger. The gun is easy to shoot accurately at reasonable distances and the recoil is amazingly soft. The grip feels a bit odd in the hand but it works well when aiming and shooting. I added a integrated laser frame and love the ease of the fast unaimed shots.

My Pico has been absolutely reliable. I've shot all the different ammo brands I had stocked and a few more brands tried since, perhaps 8 or 9 different rounds, with no problems. Takedown is almost instantaneously accomplished with a twist of a pin. The modular design means you can simply and easily do a very thorough cleaning.

Prices have come down and a new Pico may be found for around $230 or so. Register with Beretta and they double the warranty. Be sure to get the upgraded "enhanced" model.

Afaik, the newest version of the Pico has the trident and name BERETTA under the front sight on the left side of the slide. Previous versions had those marks near the trigger.

Look for one like this:

Looked at it again and . . .

Went back to LGS today and looked at Pico. It is the newest "model" looking just like the picture that Carmady posted. So I did the paper work and put my $$$ down. Got it for $215, which seems like a reasonable price after looking at them on Gunbroker. The grip is seriously small, so that may take some getting used to. If I like it it may be come a prime carry gun. We'll see.

Merry Christmas to me . . . and you all too.

I got one 2 months ago, due to the rebate offer. For pocket carry, I've had a 1st gen LCP, and Beretta bobcat, and now the Pico. I'd say the latest pico trigger has the better trigger next to the first gen LCP's, but not the newer LCP II's. The pico is light, thin, and has a stainless slide and changeable frame, easy to disassemble and pretty decent stock sights. Great pocket gun all around.

Hard to hang on too . . .

So I've had the pico at the range now. Shooting seriously low at five yards. Thing is hard to hang on too. Boy is it thin. I got to handle it, of course, before I purchased, but when you spend some time with it on the range it really comes home how skinny it is. If I can learn to shoot it better it will become a carry gun, especially in warmer times of the year. Could be a great pocket carry (in pocket holster for sure) gun. Easy to fit in cargo shorts, would fit in tackle box easily too.

Prof: invest $20 or so on a set of Talon Grips. They will greatly improve your leverage on the Pico.

I put Traction grips on mine. They are about half the price of Talon grips and are basically the same thing. I have them on several of my carry guns.

Found too late . . .

Franco, I found you too late. Talons are ordered and on their way. Well, I'll know to look at Traction next time around.
Thanks.

Franco is right.

So I looked up Traction grips on line. Looks like just about the same product as Talon but for about half the price. Live and learn.

Lol, don''t get me started! As a Pocket gun enthusiast I found the Pico and fell in love with it as I had posted before. Liked it so much I bought a second. They have turned out to two the most reliable pistols I have owned. I stopped counting rounds fired without failure at around 2500 with the first one and 700 with the second one. And they have seen a LOT of ammo since then.
They do have a learning curve. Now I can rack them fast without even thinking, draw and point shoot quickly. Mild Shooters for sure. Solid like a tank build. Every thing except the Grip which is modular is Stainless Steel. Yes, I am a fan for sure.
