Tell Me About Winchester Super-X Model 1

I have a chance to buy one from a guy I know.

He said he got it back in 1976 or 1977 and has shot some trap with it but never took it out in the field. I saw it tonight and it looked very clean and would rate it 99% or better. It looks like it has a 26" barrel with mod choke and a beautiful stock. This is first time I've seen one of thes shotgun and it looks very nice.

He wants $400 for it.

It's a very good shotgun. Among others, Brister likes it.

ATA Hall of Famer Brad Dysinger used an X1 to run a number of 100 straights in singles, doubles and Handicap....

If it cycles reliably yet $400 is a fair price. That is about as low as I have ever seen a decent X1 in the last 10 years. 26" and mod makes it a field model, a little heavy for packing around, but not too bad. $400 should buy one in great shape. They are a good shotgun, simple design, and last forever. Most of them out there for sale are from hardcore targetshooters and are WORN OUT, by that I mean they need some love to get going good agan. Parts are readily available, so not a big deal if something is a bit worn or you want a full choke or skeet barrel etc.

99% and $400 is a no-brainer to me, that thing is coming home with me right now!!!
