I have an old .357mag single action 6 shot revolver. I can't find it in any gun books. The revolver has "American Arms" stamped on it. It has a brass grip frame and case /blued top. it has a 6in. bbl and fixed sights. Is it worth anything? Was it a kit gun? Any info will help.

Whiskey:
Are you sure it is a 357 Mag?

I don't, at this time, have anything by American Arms in that caliber. From the desctiption, it seems older than the caliber.

Whiskey, I believe the handgun you're describing is the American Arms Regulator Model. It is actually made by Uberti and began to be imported to the USA in 1992. It is offered in .357 Mag., .44-40, or .45 LC with either a 4.75", 5.5" or 7.5" barrel. This is basically a reproduction of the Colt Peacemaker. It has a brass trigger guard and backstrap, fixed sights, half-cock and hammer block safeties, color case hardened frame and a blued barrel/cylinder and walnut grips. In excellent condition this revolver could be worth about $230-$270 with a premium added for one with a nickel finish. Hope this helps!

Hi, whiskey,

Quality on those guns was pretty fair and it should give good service. I think I would lay off super hot loads, but otherwise if it is mechanically OK (timing OK and locks up tight), it should be a good shooter.

This gun was several years old(I don't know how many) when my grandfather died. That was 1986. I was given the gun in 1990. It has no trnsfer bar safety, or any other safety. It is a 4 cock hammer. Any guesses now? I am sure it is .357mag, says right on it
