Tell me about the Beretta 9000G

I handled one today at a show. It's quite fat and nothing like the compact it resembled in the photos. I wasn't impressed by the finish on the slide. it looks a lot like the old black phosphate finish on Glocks. The DA pulls was very long and the SA pull gritty. They were nothing like the firm pulls on the 92FS pistols. I couldn't operate the safety lever try as I might without shifting my grip. The insides, from what I could see with the slide locked back, looked smooth, and the feed ramp had no rough spots. They were selling for $500.

From an earlier post of mine:

"I have a 9000S DAO and I like it so far. It is taking some getting used to. It is the first DAO pistol I've had, and it is taking a few rounds for me to become accurate with it. The pistol seems zeroed dead on, it's me that needs to practice with the DAO trigger. As far as the quality goes, I find nothing wrong with the pistol. It is an odd-looking pistol [chunky is a good description] that is ALL business. I think the finish on the metal is good looking and seems very durable. I will say that the pistols mechanisms do take a considerable amount of muscle to operate. The dealer who sold it to me could not operate the slide, and she is an accomplished shooter. It gave me sore fingers from operating the takedown lever. So far, I've had no malfunctions whatsoever. The pistol is simple to operate and has the safest action there is. You will have trouble finding a holster for it until makers have had time to develop some. I found a Shooting Systems nylon holster used that fits it perfectly, and also works well for a Glock 19 or 23. I have some more testing and training to do with the Beretta before I would carry it, but it looks like a keeper so far."

Just checked-out the 9000S an hour ago. The slide is vertically narrow and very hard to get a grip on. The slide is rounded and "ergonomic" which means it was hard to machine and has all sorts of machining marks on it (not attractive in my eyes). Also, the polymer is not very refined - it tends to have swirl marks and imperfections my HK definitely does not have. The barrel though looked very nice. The 9000S is going to be a niche gun since even at $424 on sale, it just won't attract many buyers. Reminds me of the Infiniti J30 I drive, great car, but odd shape so it didn't sell very well. The grip is very chunky and the gun is wider than I expected. Concealable but probably uncomfortable. I am definitely disappointed. I heard is shoots very well. The only way I would buy is if the accuracy is astounding (which as an owner of a Sig and an HK I would probably not find to be true).
