Teen confronts burglar with shotgun

This happened very near me, I feel the young man did a fine job and, apparently, his parents have taught him well. The tactic may be a bit flawed but, it worked for him, any thoughts ?

They didn't stop until he fired the warning shot and made his position clear. It may be macho to say that's a waste, but it got the intended result. Don't talk tough until you've been there. That kid made the right decision and everything turned out the best for him.

That was my take as well, I don't advocate a "warning shot" either, however in this case it stopped the intruders and, they fled the scene, you cannot ask for a better outcome.

Kid did what he thought was right and I would let him know I was proud of him, then, I would train him not to fire warning shots by handing him some tools and sandpaper.

After reading that story I cannot help but think there is a possibility he played around with the shotgun, accidentally discharged the gun into the floor and then made up a story about an intruder to save his hide from his parents wrath.

I am too cynical...
