Tech Sights for my CZ 452 FS

I only had one aperture sighted .22 rimfire in my battery - a Marlin 39A with a Williams on it. We have a Peep Sighted Class for our local 50/25 Silhouette Match, and I have occasionally been shooting that class with the Marlin lever gun. I am regularly shooting a 452 American in the Scoped Class and a 452 Trainer, FS, or UL in the Open Sighted Class. To enable me to shoot a bolt gun in the Peep Sighted Class, I ordered the CZ200 Tech Sight last week. It arrived in the U.S. Mail on Saturday and I scratched my head for a couple of hours that night trying to decide which CZ 452 to mount it on. Finally, around 10:00 PM, I decided to mount it on the FS.

I took the FS, an Alpen spotting scope, and the Caldwell RockBR to Crooked Oak this morning to test drive the new sights. I have won the various 50/25 classes many times with none other than the lowly Aguila Standard Velocity ammunition, so I chose to zero the rifle at 50 yards with the yellow and blue boxed ammo.

The first shots were about 4 inches high and a little to the right. I made some gross adjustments on the rear sight and fired this half inchish five shot group. I was feeling pretty good about the purchase.

I went to work on a final zero with the goal of being able to take a six o'clock hold on an NRA 1/5th scale chicken. I had run out of the 3" flame bulls, so I stuck this 1.35" Shoot N See paster up on the backer. I took a six o'clock hold on the little black dot and centered it in the middle of the front sight - it may have occupied a third of the front sight's top. I fired, scoped, fired, scoped, etc.. The results:

I really didn't expect to get five hits on the tiny circle with the relatively coarse peep sights. Neat!! As a matter of fact, I wasn't even sure if I would be able to see the black dot at 50 yards until I returned to the bench.

I finished up the range session with some offhand practice on a 1/5th scale turkey spinner at 50 yards. As usual, offhand is quite a different proposition than the bench, but we managed to get hits half the time and I was able to call hits and misses. My eyes were getting tired, so I decided to "live to fight another day." I will shoot strictly offhanded at a practice session on Wednesday and possibly be ready for the actual match this Saturday.

I'm thinking of getting a set for my 10/22 eventually. God knows they're better than those awful leaf sights. Having to tap the sight over 5011 times gets rather boring. I've used tech sights before, they're very precise and eliminate having to drift sights so much.

I've got a set on my 10-22 and have been extremely happy with the whole outcome. They let me shoot in production class of Running Target with them. And, I've been thinking of getting a set for my 452 Military Trainer- but darn I like the looks and function of the factory sights- I may end up getting a set if I ever get around to getting a 452 Ultra Delux, or whatever that 28" bbl job is called.

UltraLux. Yes, I weighed the pros and cons of mounting the Tech Sites on my UL, the FS, or one of my two Trainers (kind of a CZ nut) and finally opted on the FS due to its intended use in our local offhand match.

dang it !!!!..those CZ452FS are simply gorgeous!!....oh wait....I got one of those too!!!...whooo hooo.....ask me if I miss the Ruger 77/22 I sold to get my CZ 452 FS..

Thanks, and things worked out in the match on Saturday

I won the peep sighted class:

Peep Sight Class

Danny - CZ 452 FS, Aguila SV, 8/6
Bill - Winchester 69A Match, CCI SV, 9/6
Ricky - Savage Mk II, CCI SV, 13/6

10 minutes for 30 rounds at 25 silhouettes from 50 yards - all from the offhand position. One's score is the number of silos left standing and the low score wins.

I left up two pigs and all six of the little chickens. Thus, an 8X6.

Wow. As if I needed a reason to want another 452. I have a scope on mine and the mounts I have allow me to see the leaf sights underneath but peep sights could be fun too...

Great shooting... I put a set of Tech Sights on my 10-22 before an Apple Seed shoot, & really like them... I don't shoot much 22 Rimfire, but that's one of my favorite rifles...

BTW... they work great for center fire too... I have an accurized SKS, that I have a set of Tech Sights on, & even with "Spam can" ammo, the gun shoots MOA to 200 yards... lots was done to the gun to achieve that, but the Tech Sights definitely helped in that goal, both with improved sight picture, & much longer sight radius

JWT asked, "How difficult was it to install the sight on your CZ?"

They simply attach to the receiver via the rifle's tip-off scope grooves. Next, one tightens a single screw and that is it for the rear sight. You pop off the factory sight hood; loosen the screw that secures the factory front sight blade; remove the factory front sight; and finally slide in the replacement (taller) front sight blade and tighten it's allen screw with an allen wrench that comes with the Tech Sight kit. Lastly, you slide the Tech Sight's front sight protector via the CZ's factory sight base's grooves.
