Tech 9 ???

I was just down in the "Legal and Political" section of TFL reading about a case involving the Tech-9. I admit that I don't know much about these pistols (I guess??). In regards to the guy running around Louisville robbing fast food joints and convevience stores with one, the very clear pictures of the magazine sure looks like a .22 cal. rather than a 9MM.
Can someone who knows for sure tell me if there are Tech-22's, please? I'd just like to know what we're dealing with here. If he's got a 9MM, the threat level just went up.

Yes, in addition to Tec-DC9's the same company makes the Tec-22.

Which thread or picture are you referring to? I saw the thread on the "evil gun" but there wasn't a story about anything in Louisville or a picture.

Thanks for the reply.
It's a local thing here in Louisville. A young man just runs into a fast food joint or gas station and sticks his Tech in the clerk's face and asks for the money. He wears no disguise and seems not to care one whit about the security cameras. Several clear pictures have been on the nigtly local news, as he has hit several places. His violence is also escalating. The last guy he robbed (an older guy) couldn't get the money out fast enough so the thief whacked him in his left ear so hard (with the Tech), it broke his ear-drum. I felt so sorry for the older guy. His ear was all black and blue and he was saying that he hoped the doctors would be able to do something to repair the damage. We have CCW in Kentucky. I find myself hoping this really bad guy will walk into a place with his Tech-22 and four or five customers will have Glocks and Kimbers under their shirts. I'd LOVE to see he look on his face. (Right before he met the devil.)

I saw a Tec-22 recently at a gun show. It looks a lot like the Tec-9 but with a skinnier magazine. Uuuuuuuuuuugly thing:barf:

Ahh, while the Tech 22 might be the ugliest gun I own, it is also well built (mine at least).

I love it because it is cheap to shoot, and accurate to a point. I have never had a problem with it, except the occasional FTF. Once I found the ammo it likes I just keep feeding it.

Comes in handy for teaching the kids to shoot.

According to its owner, this is very unreliable and inaccurate BUT it would still be lethal at point blank with a round already chambered. I hope someone treats that goblin to a bullet in the ear.

I passed up on a Tec 9 almost three years ago. It was preban with a 32 round mag and a threaded barrel. As much as I hear about them jamming, I almost wish I had gotten it for collector purposes, now that they are out of business.

Oleg--Thanks for the picture.

This is the type of guy that scares me the most. He doesn't care if his full face is on the security camera OR if the Tech he is waving around gets it's picture taken. No worries at all!
When I go to the convenience store, I keep my eyes on the door.
