Just a wild guess without a picture. But TC use to make .357 and .44 mag barrel with a device on the end of the barrel to shred plastic on their plastic encapsulated shot shells. They tried to make a .410 out of their Contenders. I was never happy with their performance as a shotgun. It didn't effect the accuracy of regular ammo as they were rifled.

thanks guys i dont have the gun yet i bought it on gunbroker so i cant take it out and look ... if it is the shotshell choke ,without removing it can i still fire regular bullets out of it?

There are a couple of variations of the "Hot Shot" .44 barrel, one has ports, and the "straightener" is external. I don't have one of those in .44 but I do have one in .357 Mag. The "straightener" does look like a choke tube for a shotgun. I also have a .45LC/.410 barrel where the "straightener" is internal.

The "straightener" (my name for it) has lands and grooves like rifling, but unlike rifling, these are straight. The idea was that the straight section would counteract (at least some) of the spin induced by the rifling, leading to a better shot pattern. I suppose they would also help fracture the shot capsule, as well.

These tubes should be removed before shooting regular solid bullets. Each barrel came with a special wrench to do this with. If you get the barrel, and it doesn't have the wrench, you didn't get everything, and the price paid should reflect that.

TAKE OFF THE TUBE BEFORE SHOOTING REGULAR AMMO!

Wait and see !!

is there any think else i can use to take the external part off or do i have to use the wrench?
I think you might be being a bit premature. My SWAG on this, is that it is a Muzzle-Break and yours might be a 10" barrel. If it is, these were called the "Hunter" package. Taking it off, would be a mistake, if indeed you can. The worse that will happen when you shoot, it that blowback, will blow you cap off. Been there and done that. .... ;)

By the way, you have a fine barrel there; no longer offered and more desireable than one without. .... ;)

Be Safe !!!

If it is the (external) shotshell choke, an ordinary wrench (suitably padded to protect the blueing) will work.

If it is the internal "choke" then a special wrench from T/C is the tool to use.

If it is only the muzzle brake (or ports) then it does not come off.

And yes, the .44 Mag Contender will jump, a lot more than you expect. Be prepared for it.
